It seems like the travel shopping sites would actually have a huge incentive to provide this feature. Not only it is difficult for the elderly, the handicaps and the ladies to lift their carry-on to the overhead bin.  It delays the flight because it takes time to stow the carry-on in the small overhead bin.  It hurts the economy because people are buying nothing at their destination city to avoid having to check-in the baggage.  It is a very selfish act that the airlines have imposed and increased such fee.
