Walmart's Black Friday Plan: Cheap TVs, iPod Touch With $50 Gift Card

The morning after Thanksgiving, Walmart will make its customers elbow and curb-stomp one another in order to jostle for Sanyon 720p HDTVs for less than $598, a Magnavox Blu-ray player for $78 and $195 iPod Touch that comes with a $50 iTunes gift card, CNNMoney reports.

Reporter Parija B. Kavilanz got ahold of a leaked circular with all the deals. He reports the monolith discount retailer won't wait for Black Friday to roll out all its sales:

Separately, Wal-Mart said Monday that it isn't waiting until Black Friday to further chop prices on gadgets and toys.

The retailer said it is cutting prices 40% to 50%, and less or some products the weekend before Black Friday. Some of the discounts include a 26-inch Vizio 720p LCD HDTV for $248, down from $347; EZ Bake Oven for $16, down from $28; and packages for the Guitar Hero, Band Hero and DJ Hero video games that include a $40 gift card.

On Black Friday I will be avoiding anything that sells merchandise and remember that people were killed for a "sale".

I forecast death again. All of the major stores started pushing the day after sale two weeks ago. That seems early this year. None of the deals sound good. When will people learn that these deals are rip-offs. They specially manufacture this crap for the sale. I mean Sanyon, Vizio, and an EZ-Bake Oven?

When you count in time wasted waiting for the doors to open, time waiting in line, gas money, and risk of life or injury you might find you actually wasted several grand on that few hundred dollar TV. Do yourself a favor. Pay a bit more for real namebrand stuff bought off the Internet. Many sites offer free shipping this time of year as well as discounts and free gift cards.

@tulisin: Yea I haven't been able to find a 15 inch laptop for under $200. Might not be the best quality one but its in budget. If you can find one online thats in that price range send a link my way.

For most of these deals I can get a website to ship it to my door for less than the black friday price....without it being black friday.

Sorry, but if they want me to go out there and deal with lines (as well as WalMart itself), they're going to actually have to make it worth my while. I'm just hoping online retailers knock back their prices for Black Friday even though they don't really have to.

But maybe brick and mortar just can't compete.

On Black Friday, I will first be remembering Jdimytai Damour, and what happened to him. I will then weep for our society. Finally, I will find the cheapest webcam I can, and also get Season 4 of House at Target.
