Agreed. I have no less than 2 of those cards "expired" with null values. One $10 one and a $20 one from their "Halo ODST" special.

You think its a good deal at the time but once you see the back of the cards it is loaded with fine print on how you can't use them immediately and if you don't use em in 60 days they expire.

I thought this fell under California's consumer protection laws on Gift Cards but it seems these "Gift Cards" are not gift cards at all but rather part of a rewards program which are not subject to such laws.

Toys R Us discounts are a scam. I got a gift card instead of a direct price cut and then I find out that the card expires at the end of the year. Less than 2 months to use it.

On the other hand, we don't know that they may not be actively working to prevent a deflationary spiral, and the price won't be $69.99 next week,so perhaps next week we can save $-20, and therefore today's price offer of a $-10 savings is a good one.
