These have actually been around for a long, long time. They used to be marketed primarily to travelers, to prevent the hygiene concerns from sleeping in less-than-ideal bedding. This is the first I've seen them marketed as a luxury item, it used to be a just a \"don't wake up with crabs\" product.

Though they may be more stringent now. My old one was a flimsy muslin thing that wouldn't have prevented much.

Yeah these have been around for a while-- they're always in the SkyMall catalog on airplanes.
And I actually wish I had one back when I was sleeping in youth hostels in Europe and could never tell how clean the sheets were-- and some of them make you bring your own sheets. This would have been perfect.
This would also be ideal for sleeping on someone's couch.
Otherwise, I can't see just lounging around you own house in this thing.

I used to use a (much cheaper) version of this when dinosaurs ruled the earth and I was staying in Youth Hostels while traveling. They would (sometimes) give you sheets for the bed, but the quality of said sheets were always slightly suspect.
Now of course I would have no use since I consider roughing it to be staying in a hotel without a concierge.

Probably not menstrual blood. Probably bed bugs. If you see blood stains, PLEASE RUN. You could bring them home and they are impossible to get rid of. They bite and poop blood - hence the stains.

Plus, this was four years ago and I have had no bedbugs to date.

@Slave For Turtles: Yes, absolutely. Just sleep in it on top of all the bedding or maybe on the floor.
Uh. No. Bedbugs will find you regardless of whether you are in the bed, on the floor, or on top of the sheets. They will get you and get in your luggage and come home. Check the bed for bloodstains and the headboard for bugs. If you see evidence, run! It's not worth the cost of having to throw everything out of your house.

Does the Dreamie share the Snuggie's habit of leaving ten pounds of fluff in the dryer filter?
I think I'll buy a few yards of silk, fold it in half, and sew along the bottom edge. Voila! A Dreamie of my very own for only 10 minutes of work!
I can actually see how this could be nice for someone who travels frequently and stays at cheap hotels/hostels (as I've had to do before!), but I'm not paying this company for one, that's for sure.
@demitasse: Where are you finding this silk fabric that comes in tubes? Because I'm an experienced sewer and I'm having an entertaining time trying to figure out how you fold a rectangular piece of fabric in half, sew it along one edge, and come up with a bag.

I miss Billy Mays.
I miss Billy Mays too. I loved his loud voice, his beard and moustache, the way he pitched and I loved his show \"Pitchmen\". If Billy Mays pitched it, I'd buy it. I like his friend Sully too. There's a state expo every year here in Springfield Massachusetts and there was a guy demostrating Oxi-Clean Versatile. He claimed to be Billy's son. This was before Billy died. I've been trying to find pictures of Billy's kids to see if he was telling the truth or not. I haven't found any on the net yet.
These -- or the silk version available for some time now from Sea to Summit -- are actually useful for those of us who sleep on futons.
They're quicker to deal with than making your bed every night with two sheets, and the silk ones are VERY comfortable to sleep in...
Won't you get killed by static in one of these?

They have these at Bed, Bath, and Beyond for about $40. I was looking for one a while ago, but ended up just making one for myself out of good old soft cotton. The problem is that they're kind of hard to get into and out of, and there's the \"bunch factor\" when moving around inside, and my biggest gripe? Sleeping alone. Oh well, I guess you could get a double one, but the other two problems would make me rethink it.

I am still amazed at the things people will buy. When I saw this, I just shook my head. And I am SO GLAD I am not \"blanket challenged\" and know how to put my bathrobe on so my backend isn't hanging out and cold.

meh...I can't do the satin sheets thing...I get night sweats, so this would make me uber hot. now, if they had them in like 500 thread count egyptian cotton...consider me first in line.
I bought a Dreamie yesterday 3/18/2010, washed and dried it and used it last night. I found it gave me a feeling of safety, comfort, peace, relaxation, it calmed my high level of anxiety, decreased my level of going into panic attacks. decreased my amount of asthma attacks last night and today, fell asleep a lot quicker last night and woke up today in a very great mood. I also took a shower before I got all cozy. I felt like a big baby all bunted up. Research claims that babies in bunting feel safer, feel more comfortable, are less irritable, get better sleep, are happier, are more calm, are healtier than babies that are not bunted. If it works on babies them it has to work on adults. Stop dowgrading every product that comes out. Just because it didn't work for you doesn't mean it won't work for someone else. You HAVE to BELIEVE the product will work in order forf it to work. If you BELIEVE, like kids do in Santa, then it will work, just like Santa coming down the chimney and bringing presents works for kids. You gotta believe.
