my advice is to keep waiting. it will be even less after it flops as a holiday gift. this game does not appeal to anyone really - they missed the ball with electronic music fans like me by putting in a ton of terrible pop mashups (along with some good ones) and creating a totally WTF? controller (seriously? WTF? that's all I have to say really, just look at that thing.. WTF?). they missed the ball with regular people because regular people hate electronic music and they certainly didn't include enough \"classics\" recognizable to any extent by the average consumer. GH works because it has classic tracks that everyone has heard. DJ Hero has Daft Punk, which some have heard, and most only know via Kanye West's travesty to that sample song.

@zegolf: I saw a demo of it at Frys over the weekend and a kid was playing it.. it was the most annoying game I've heard in a long time. Even if it's a good song you ruin it with all the \"DJ\" noises and crap..

I played the game in Toys 'R' Us this week and dug it (the boy, not so much). Of course, now I have Benny Benassi's \"Satisfaction\" stuck in my head after not hearing it for years. I totally see how it would be obnoxious if you're not a nerd for mashups in general, or those particular songs.

I think that the Guitar Hero people are doing whatever they can to grab money, and it makes me kinda sad. Mr. Aroo and I were/are serious Guitar Hero fans since the first one. They lost me with \"Rocks the 80s\" though. What a blaintent money grab that was.

We've bought the first two GHs, the second RB and the first one's songs, as well as a ton of DLC (Siouxsie track pack! Yay!). We gave up on most of the GH editions when we realized we were only interested in about 1/10th of the tracks.

We mostly stuck with Guitar Hero because we started with it and Mr. Aroo doesn't like change very much and likes to stick with what he knows, but last January he decided he really wanted Rock Band II for his birthday.

Btw, his birthday sucks being in the first half of January.. all the good stuff is gone by then because people return the crap they don't want and buy up all the cool stuff that is left. Anyway, I went all over town trying to find Rock Band II bundle for the Wii, and no one had it.. not one store. So we ended up with Guitar Hero World Tour. I still think Rock band II would have been more fun but oh well : /

From what I hear it's really fun, but, I think the music game world is getting tired of proprietary controllers and sales are reflecting that. Just look at how many people want their closet space back by selling their controller stuff on ebay & craigslist.

Gosh, DDR pads, Beatmania controllers, Taiko drum, Rock Band guitars plus drums... Sadly, I'm at max controller capacity.

@zegolf: Hasn't sold well at all. Here's an article speculating why it was doomed--turntable accessory is too complicated for pick-up-and-play, songs aren't familiar enough, and too expensive. Maybe bringing it more in line with other music games will help sales?
