@Kimaroo - Fortified with Kittydus Purrularis: Keep in mind that I believe these recommendations are for an "immersive" television viewing experience (where your eyes see nothing but the television).

I am perfectly happy with a 42" television and I sit 10-12' away from the television. The only time that it is less than satisfying is when I am watching a movie in Widescreen as it places a letterbox on the top and bottom, making the picture very short.

As a sidenote, it's not actually BBQ sauce -- it's steak sauce, kind of like a thicker Worcestershire. REALLY, REALLY good. I actually sent off for that coupon a while back and had my parents pick me up the bottle in St. Louis and mail it to me in New York. A million times better than A1.

Better than a snuggie because terry absorbs moisture, making it best for after shower lounging. Just keep your legs closed.

@Kimaroo - Fortified with Kittydus Purrularis: It tells me my optimum is 61" and my minimum is 42" which is ridiculous. We're in a 780 sq. ft. apartment. We're not going to spend that kind of money on a massive TV that dominates the entire apartment.

@Rachacha: Hm.. Interesting links you posted there. According to how far away my couch is from my current TV it said this:

To insure that you see a high definition picture from your viewing distance, you should purchase a set no smaller than 47".

If you have a more optimistic view on the limits of human vision, you can utilize an HDTV as small as 24".

That's quite a range there. I'm not entirely sure how big the TV is that we have now. It is a CRT but it's flat on the front, not curved like the old tubes used to be.

If they keep getting cheaper, I think we could find something we would both be happy with.. but right now it's just not doable.

@Kimaroo - Fortified with Kittydus Purrularis: I don't want to get into the middle of a Mr. & Mrs. Aroo "discussion" of whether one needs a new television, but I can say that we replaced a 27" tube TV with a 42" plasma, and there was little difference in the height of the two televisions (obviously the plasma was significantly wider, and due to the style the screen of the plasma was a bit taller, but the physical case height did not change much)

@Kimaroo - Fortified with Kittydus Purrularis: What I want to know is, why on earth would anyone get a 42" 720p? That has to look horrible, right?

We have a tube TV that's been in the family for about 15 years. It's still going strong, except it weighs about 400 pounds so it makes our TV console/table/cabinet sag a little in the middle. It was the only one that was big enough to actually fit a tube TV on, but we couldn't account for the weight. Sigh.

@Oranges w/ Cheese has 2 cats! ahahaha.: Mr. Aroo insists that we "need" one in the high 40s or 50"... Crazy.. I'm waiting to see what happens with Christmas.

We still have a tube tv, we bought it just before they stopped selling them because my childhood tv finnally blew out on us. If only it had waited another year or two to die : /
