Well, the local maker's club has a turkey day dinner for folks who are still in town that day. Will be a good time to make new friends!

I appreciate the thought however. I was thinking of hosting something myself for the lonely grad students here who dont have anything else to do. At least I am here mostly by choice.

Simple: Be an immigrant loner who has difficultly meeting new people. Solved. Bonus points if you move to an area that does not jive with your socio-political views. Even more if the said area lacks a singles scene of any sort. Just to top it off, convince whatever friends you do have to go on vacations abroad.
