No sour/bitter burnt taste, it was actually smooth and flavorful coffee. It's just something you taste, or something you don't. I can't taste the soap in cilantro, but I don't think that people who can are faking it or trying to seem cool. They just have certain tastebuds or something that I don't.</p><p>Starbucks coffee does taste burned to me, though. They've been doing this for almost two years now. I have no idea why, maybe using real coffee is too expensive or something. It's not as though they couldn't afford it anyway, given that they charge up the wazoo for their fireplace-ash brewed drinks. It sort of has a country-store look to it, but the coffee is just the same as back home (no slams here). But what you find is they have plenty of competitors in Seattle, and finding one to your liking isn't hard.
