Speaking of the Nobel Peace Prize... As big a fan of Obama I am... what exactly has he done to deserve the Nobel Peace Prize?
Funny part is, even the Obama admin was surprised by the decision.
Most likely the Committee awarded it because of how he makes them \"feel good about themselves\".

@MostlyHarmless: I just barely remember Gorbachev getting the Nobel Peace Prize early in his tenure, before he had really done much, and that was lauded in the West because it was a sign of approval of his policies of engagement with the non-communist world, etc., which helped lead to the fall of communism and the end of the Iron Curtain and so forth.
So it's not unprecedented and I know Obama's policies of international engagement are very popular around the world (and, let's face it, as the US is the 800-lb. gorilla, it's good for everybody else when the US is working in concert with the rest of the world instead of at odds with it). So I'm okay with it in that way.
OTOH, domestically, I think it's probably NOT such a good thing and will tend to undermine him more than support him.

@Eyebrows McGee (now with more baby!): To be fair, his opposition would gripe & whine at anything he does. Reflexively. Negatively. Destructfully. No matter who suffers or what the cost. Like a broken Jessica Simpson record.
If it got out that he almost won, they'd be filling Fox airwaves right this minute trumpeting the fact that The World HATES Obama. They're like arguing with a severely autistic child.
@MostlyHarmless: I'd feel it's a bit more deserved if he had done a reversal on torture, illegal spying on US citizens, revising the Patriot Act, eschewing Signing Statements, etc., etc.
Although, despite what Oslo is saying, perhaps they're doing it partially because they hope to put some fiber in his spine?
That said, pulling out of Iraq, relying on diplomacy, working closer with allies and actually (gasp!) communicating with nations we don't see eye to eye with are good steps. It's shocking how low the bar has been set thanks to the last President.
I'd like to see Obama reverse the corn ethanol program as well: think of the peace that would be enhanced by making a basic food item be used only for food, instead of being wasted on this boondoggle.

BTW, +1 vote for the original format. People process things better in groups of 3-4. I've always liked Consumerists format for deals better than say Gizmodo's or Lifehackers.

I love the new layout. With that said, I'd still like to see the deals updated they expire. There's nothing worse than seeing a good deal listed, clicking the link, and finding out it's already over. Okay, there are plenty of things that are worse, but still.
@Bhockzer: Problem is that Chris can't be expected to check the comments every five minutes and still crank out the scathing exposes and crack reporting he does. Which is why if someone DOES see a deal sell out, send an email to Chris to let him know. Both his Twitty and Email Addy are on the left in the masthead.

I prefer the new one - much easier to read and yes - there are definitely categories I will skip, so all in all the new layout is faster to read.
There's a problem with your poll. It's possible to check both boxes, both old and new.
They should be radio buttons, not checkboxes.
