I fail to see how having the tennis racket of a cheap piece of junk breaking off and hitting the tv would cause him to lose his job. He doesn't MAKE the crap they sell on there!

@Saboth: Besides, this is the workplace where a presenter broke a fake samauri sword by whacking it on the counter, stabbed himself with the flying broken bit, and forced some dink in overalls to come on and sell \"we may need medical attention here on the set... .\" and still kept his job. The same presenter also identified a picture of a moth as a horse. Googlevid it ;)
I think the attachment was on there firmly, but he hit the TV hard enough to knock it off. I think what he said was a bit of damage control. I think the woman on there as well says something like \"I love that TV!\" Maybe she did that to try to make a positive image stick in the viewer's mind. It felt a little sleazy.

I didn't believe it at first, but now I notice at 0:03 where his left hand is extended and close to the screen. If you add a racket to it, it would make sense.

@Oranges w/ Cheese wants it to be winter already: I thought they were pretty stupid, and too expensive for what they are. Mr. Aroo tried to get one of those attachment packs before and I asked him, \"What does it do?\" And he thought for a second and said, \"..Nothing.\" and then he put it back.

@Oranges w/ Cheese wants it to be winter already: to be honest, there is something about those attachments that seems to help. I think it may be that they make you hold the control at the proper angle and what not.
But, you should also be able to remember that you have it on there and know how far you should stand back.
I like how his co-host was laughing at him. It was a really sincere, 'Ha-ha', in your face, deep from the belly laugh. What a dumb-dumb! Funny thing with the Wii is that you don't have to swing so intensively, it's not like your playing actual tennis. DOLT!

kind of off-topic, but i received a recall notice for a wii 4-controller charger, i contacted them and they were supposed to send me a box to return it in. it's not a nintendo charger and i can't recall the brand. that was 2 months ago and i still haven't heard from them. has anyone else had to deal with this?

The recall was in August, and I would allow 4-6 weeks to process the request for a return box. It seems like you are at or beyon that point. It probably wouldn't hurt to contact the CPSC and explain the situation. They can relay the issue to the manufacturer, and if they receive enough complaints, they can determine if the recall plan the manufacturer put into place was not effective and can force them to put other plans into action.
@craptastico: that's because the units explode and the whole factory is now gone.
but, really, no. At least not yet.
I've never understood the appeal of non-functional accessories anyway.

@Cant_stop_the_rock: I find it barely acceptable to have to attach the stupid nunchuk controller - and that piece is a requirement for some games. Why the hell would I take the time to attach a plastic ring that vaguely resembles a ping pong paddle to play tennis? In this case, that 'accessories' package is not a feature, it's a bug (especially since we see that they don't connect securely and can destroy your tv).

If you look at the Wiimote carefully when they show it, the base of the accessory is still there. The \"stringed\" part apparently broke off when he hit the screen. Seems to indicate it's a crappy accessory.

In fact having owned an LG, I'd be willing to make an argument that the cheap accessory never even touched the screen, and the damage was caused by the force of air from his swing.

If my kids (whenever I decide to have them) have something similar to a Wii, they are going to have one of the older, non-breakable glass screen Tv's like I grew up with. I think I remember hitting our TV with a hammer one time and it hurt my hand.
See, this is why you attach the nice silicone sleeves Nintendo gives you for free, and not cheap Chinese plastic junk that serves absolutely no purpose.

I actually managed to talk some woman out of buying these when I was in line at a Toys-R-Us. She was getting a Wii and some games, and asked me about the plastic things. I was surprised to learn that she thought they actually did something. Once she realized they didn't, she put them back.
I wonder how many people think they are something more than tacky plastic decorations... maybe that's why they actually sell?

Well, this lets us know what kind of idiots are breaking stuff with their Wii (have had one since launch, never thought I needed to put the wrist strap on.)
The funny thing is that this shows how non gamers view video games, this guy was really pretending that he was playing tennis, just like people think I'm really pretending to kill people when I play Hitman.
That's not even a functional attachment. More importantly it's not made by Nintendo. It does nothing but break TV's.

Why does that even need some sort of silly ass attachment on it? I can't imagine any purpose for even putting it on there. That's what they get for trying to sell shit people have no use for.
I feel sorry for the guy though! It's not his fault that they're selling POS accessories.
Back in my day, a piece of plastic hurled at the tv only hurt YOU when it bounced back! In fact, I just threw a plastic cup at my tv as hard as I could just now, maybe because it's a CRT with a nice GLASS screen!
