What all does Chick-Fil-A sell, chicken sandwiches and soda? It's pretty hard to screw that up.
My vote for the hardest working drive-thru crew is Taco Bell. They have many items, all with the same crap but in different proportions. It's tough to know what to do if the customer wants a cheesy beefy melt, or a beefy nacho burrito club, or an oozy gooey bacon wrap, or a melty cheesy melty wrap n crunch.
@MadameX: Oh definitely. What I find kind funny about that is how the millions that are spent on development and advertising for limited-time/promotional products are just wasted due to order screw-ups by Taco Bell employees.
It's your job to think up new Taco Bell menu items, and your life's work is sunk by a 17 year-old kid and a bad drive-thru speaker. How depressing is that?

I guess Portillo's isn't a national chain so it's not considered, but if you want to go through a drive thru that is a model of efficiency and teamwork, it can't be beat. Plus, the food is amazing - one of the best burgers in Chicago, and great Italian Beefs and Sausages.

@AlexTNOA:We've been utilizing the Port's drive-thru in Downers' since it was built (and rebuilt once) circa 1982 or so, and while what you say is true about the quality of the food- and their inherent efficiency running the lines- over the decades they have made more order mistakes than any similar service, by far.
Best drive-thru burgers and fries in Chicagoland, hands down, though.

I think most of the ones in the NJ area are in mall food courts. I had never seen a freestanding Chick-fil-a until I moved to Maryland.

Our chick-Fil-A is pretty good. About 1 in 5 times they mess up my order by putting pickles on my order when i ask for it.
McDonalds is ok, not the best. Cook Out is ok, only went there 2 times. Burger King I havent been to (the one in the mall less then 3,000 feet away is ok-ish..
Taco Bell/KFC is ok, drive through is pretty good.... Our sonic STINKS. They get the order wrong alot, and it is normal for me to wait 20+ minutes in the drive through.

The Sonic Drive-Thru in Apple Valley, Ca is about 30 to 40 mins just for them to take your order. Seems they want you to park. No I am not making this up. I have A/V of this. When you try to to talk to someone about it. They tell you well if you would have park your order would be out to you in under 5 mins (True). Now I just park, order, and leave. Takes less time then going thought the Drive-Thru.

The Chick-fil-a in my town actually has people standing outside the drive-through during busy hours (lunch, dinner) with these little electronic tablets to take your order and run your card so that by the time you get to the window you order is ready.
Chick-Fil-a rocks, plain and simple. It's the only fast food that I allow myself to eat.
Does it count if a restaurant is closed for a whole day every week?

CfA generally has exceptional service -- I've heard people complain online that they think encouraging employees to answer \"Thank you\" with \"my pleasure\" when the customer in question is in fact being a decent human being is demeaning, but I really appreciate it -- and is owned by Christian conservatives who actually walk the walk (donate heavily to charity, close the business on Sundays, support politics I _really_ disagree with such as Prop 8... can't have everything, I guess).

If you have any SONIC Drive-Ins near you, try their ice cream. To us, it's the creamiest of the soft-serve fast-food variety, so far.

An interesting facts about their business, they Don't franchise. Every store is owned by corporate and they are very strict about quality and customer service, they even dictate the building design and layout.

I've never understood why restaurants apparently think that the money or a person that orders through the drive thru is always more valuable than the money of a customer that walks into a restaurant.
I'm tired of walking into a restaurant of coffee shop and seeing 3 or 4 people with headsets on tripping over themselves to service drive through customers while there's usually only one person to run the whole front counter. and even that person has a head set on as well.
@Scatter: They make more money from the drive-thru. It's as simple as that. If they made more money from indoor customers, they'd put all their resources into you, instead.

I love Chick-Fil-A. Their nuggets are sooooo good. Cooking in peanut oil definitely makes a difference. But alas, I refuse to spend one dime with them as long as they continue to support and fund anti-gay organizations. Yes, they have that right.. but I also have the right not to spend my money with them.
It's not just that they cook in peanut oil, but that they also make sure to segregate the chicken fryers from the potato fryers.

I see In 'n' Out isn't on here. They'd do very well for menu appearance, accuracy, and clarity, but would end up last place on the length of time in drive through category. Cook to order + far too popular means there's always a line of a dozen cars or more - it's ridiculous. Yeah, I just go inside, not that lazy.

@oldtaku: In-N-Out is also apparently more reliable than Sacramento PD, or at least that's what the person who handed my wallet in to one of their locations thought. I got a phone call from HQ a couple of days after I had lost the wallet. Even the $8 in cash was still in there.

Fast is good, but I'd wait however long it took for an In-N-Out double double and fries.
Only once in 10 years did they mess up my drive-thru order, leaving out the fries. When I called to tell them, they apologized profusely, sent a coupon for two burgers and two fries, and followed up a week or so later to be sure that I wasn't angry.
Them and In-N-Out have the best service overall imo.
The Orange, Ca location on Tustin Ave, which is incidentally next door to an In-N-Out has the most polite and through fast food crew I've ever seen.
The floor manager guy acts like a full-fledged waiter/matre'd going around the dining area asking people if their food is up to par and offering to bring them sauces and stuff.
He also apologize to you for every 30 seconds you have to wait for your meal.

I worked in food service for a few years, so I make it a point to look them in the eye, smile, and thank everyone who serves me. Most drive-thru workers don't even acknowledge my thanks. At Chick-Fil-A, I get a warm \"My pleasure\". I don't get scripted upsells with every order. I'm always greeted at the window with a smile. I'd love to be able to get breakfast there on Sundays (Chicken Minis FTW, seriously.) But if that's the price I have to pay for pleasant, courteous service, I'll gladly pay it. I'm an unapologetic atheist, but I don't give a damn who gives what money to whom if I get a quality product and good service.

@h3llc4t has a slow work day: I find the prices kind of high for chicken strips. But as to quality, I live in Louisiana where the guy who started it still runs the franchises, so it could be an issue with the franchisee.
Man I was driving through Columbus in May, wish I'd have known there was a Cane's nearby.
My local Chic-Fil-A is so incredibly fast I usually get my food before my change. Even after a football game with some 87,000 plus people turned loose in town and a line out the door, it doesn't take 15 minutes to get fresh, good, hot food.
I Love Chik-fil-a and always will. They respect their customers, respect their employees and their faiths even if they aren't Christian. I support this business because Mr. Cathy stands for his values and doesn't conform to secular society. Rock ON Chick-Fil-A! The Chick-Fil-A in my area won Chick-Fil-A franchise of the year.

Chick-Fi-La is awesome. The one time (one time out of dozens of perfect orders) they screwed up my order they re-imbursed me with two coupons for whatever meal I wanted.

Chick-fil-a is a cut above other fast food chains. The food quality is good, they do a lot of charity work, and they take care of their employees.
I'm willing to drive a bit further to go to a Chick-Fil-A or a Costco because of the way they run their business.
Chick-Fil-A rocks service-wise, but the oil they use makes me queasy. I like peanuts just fine, but not the oil. Go figure.
Nobody beats Chick-Fil-A lemonade, not even your kid's lemonade stand. Lemons, water, real sugar, ice. That's it, and free refills all you can drink.
Their steakburgers are very good too, but you have to go to a Dwarf House Chick-Fil-A to get one. It's a shame they have this Chicken-only reputation because they do very well with beef. I guess it does not fit their image.
Their prototype Pizza, Hot dog and burger joint \"Upscale Pizza\" is not yet very good. Too much of the pizza comes out of a can or spice shaker. BUT they have the CFA lemonade and those nifty tablet order things, and the cutest staff in the history of QSR. Wow. I know that's a sad comment but what's an old man to say but wow.
One more positive thing about Chick-Fil-a. They are the best mannered drive thru's I've gone to. Most drive thrus, you get a 33/33/33 chance of getting someone nice, getting someone disrespectful, or getting someone who just doesn't care. Every time I've gone to CFA though, they've been very courteous.

It's been a while since I went there, but they always had the best toys in kids' meals. Small books about nature, a pack of cards on things to do that don't involve television, etc. I don't like their politics, but I wish other fast-food joints would learn something from them and stop handing out useless junk in kids' meals.

Sucks to know my liberal dollars go to the vast conservative empire of Truett Cathy, but, honestly, Chick Fil A is pretty much the only fast food I'll eat. It's so good. BRB, getting Saturday morning Chicken Biscuit.

Chick-Fil-A is owned and run by a loon. Stopped going there a long time ago. Don't want to support thier religious or politcal views.

The one by me takes forever in the drive through. The food is good quality for fast food though.
I agree with the posts about Chick-Fil-A and Portillo's. Good food and great service. I have no qualms doing business with Christian owned fast food joint because I practice tolerance.

Grew a moustache and a mullet, got a job at Chick-Fil-A.
Citing, artistic differences the band broke up in May.
And in June reformed without me, and they got a different name. Nuked another Grandma's apple pie and hung my head in shame.

Rarely do I go to Chick-fil-A, but they've never messed up my order (waffle fries!).

Not surprised to see Hardees so low on the list. It doesn't matter what location I go to, it's always slow. I've waited a good 10 minutes for an order in the restaurant more than once, and I've also been asked to pull through the drive through and so they can bring my food out to me when it's ready on several occasions.
The Wendy's, Taco Bells, etc. study the weak points in their service and find ways to improve, because a second or two here or there really ads up. I'm convinced that Hardees doesn't do this kind of examination. They just do whatever, and don't realized that there's lots of room for improvement.
However, I have to say Hardees food is pretty good. Their burgers are generally worth the wait. I'm from Pa., and there's not many of them there (seems like most are on the Turnpike), but I live in the south now, and they're as common as Wendy's here.
Still, I'll take Five Guys over any of them.

Of all of the local fast food places, Chick-Fil-A has the best milkshakes and lemonade.
It is just a shame that they use peanut oil for everything since my wife has a peanut allergy; it means I can only go to Chick-Fil-A on the days when she is not with me. :(
Too bad they have the worst food of all time- followed by Sonic & Jack in the Box. I honestly don't understand how anyone with taste buds can choke down all that nasty oversalted so-called food which is all fried in 2 year old grease.
And if you're going to commit suicide by food, at least clog your arteries with something of quality, like home made fettucini alfredo.

Support a cult, buy Chick-fil-A.
The only problem with Chik-Fil-A, just like In-N-Out, is that it's owned and run by a right wing Christofascist evangelical jesus cult. I don't like it when companies are overtly religious. Obviously their owners and employees can believe whatever they want and I usually won't hold it against them. But when they make religion official company policy, then I have a problem. Yes I really do like Chik-Fil-A, they have my favorite fast food fried chicken sandwich by far. But their overt religiosity gives me great pause before I'm willing to spend my money there. How much money from the purchase of each chicken sandwich combo goes to fund Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, and anti-abortion terrorists? Surely some. I'll eat C-F-A if i'm starving and there's nothing else around, but I'd eat there a lot more often if it wasn't the Chicken o' Jesus. Also, in my experience, all overtly-religious companies have extremely unethical business practices.
yeah! this is by far my favorite fast food place. The peach milkshake is the best non-alcoholic drink I have ever tasted. Sooo good. I wish they were open on Sunday's though...
Consumerists should know about Chik-Fil-A's political leanings. They are from the neanderthal-evangelical wing of Christianity, and have forcefully advocated against gays and women.
I can only speak of the McDonald's near our house, where the staff is rude, the food is usually cold, the oil is rancid, the ketchup dispensor often has a nest of fruit fly inhabiting it, and drive-thru will get your order wrong more often than not.
We will actually drive half an hour to go to another if the need strikes us, but considering that McDonald's is neither all that healthy nor cheap (Remember the \"Change on your $2\" campaign, anyone?), we've moved to other alternatives, including home cooking.
As for complaining - after 5 years of bad experiences and multiple call to McD home office, we came to the conclusion that they simply no longer care about QoS. Or quality, in general.
