The only site that gives you both a free credit report and free credit score, no catches, no trial subscriptions, no credit card required, is www.Quizzle.com (according to Wikipedia: [su.pr]). Plus, Quizzle will put all of your debts from your credit report into a handy budget so you can see what your personal finances might look like laid out in one place.

As you can see, the Consumerist Comment view condenses the URLs, so you dont need to use URL shortening services to \"tidy up\" the link.

Also again @Ann Marie: Credit Karma pretty much does the same (from what I can tell) and does not require credit card either. BUT it does ask for your SSN to get the accurate report.

Tried Choicetrust.com and they said I can't verify my own identity.
Apparently entering all my correct info isn't good enough for them.

The catch-22 of course for tinfoil types is that you typically have to provide detailed identity documents to get reports from these companies (e.g., ChoicePoint). I'm not willing to give them access to any information they don't already have, or confirm information they may not already have confirmed. They don't really say what they do with the identity information you send... it *should* only be used to verify identity then get destroyed, but I certainly wouldn't place any bets.

@Logical Extremes: agreed. I'd like to wipe myself out of those services, but I am not willing to give/confirm information for them to do it.
For those who want to access their standard credit reports from the big three, I wouldn't mess around. Stick to [www.annualcreditreport.com] - it's free and a service required to be offered by law. Why give your personal information to any other 3rd-party just so they can run it off to the big three, and do whatever else they may do with it (not to mention the added security risk of having your info in yet another place).

@Digigage: I thought (and I could be wrong) that they aggregate data from your insurance companies. That's where they harvest all the \"omg - you had a mole removed - must be cancer\" headaches when you're trying to get new insurance. They only know the procedures, not necessarily the lab reports.
I tried both links to the Consumer Reports article, and both didn't work for me. Can someone repost the link for me?
I really want to try the medical reports. I'll even promise to give a report on them if someone can give me the link so I know who to call.

I'm getting a 404 on choicetrust.
Do any of these sites offer recourse for bad information on reports? The credit reporting agencies have a fairly painful process for disputing entries on their reports, but what can you do about wonky information in your medical data?
I had no idea stores actually track your returns.
Question: I went to annualcreditreport.com and filled out the info. It asked a security question about a mortgage in June of 2007 (which mortgage lender and terms) except I do not have a mortgage. It said that due to security issues, my report could not be send electronically and to please send proof of identity. Is this unusual? Why would it ask about a mortgage that I do not have? eeek!
@cosmicdenmother: One of the options should have been something like \"None of the above\" or some way to say you don't have that mortgage. They sometimes throw in false questions to add to the security.

@FatLynn: Really glad I saw your post. Never knew my credit score cause I believe I wasted my annualcreditreport.com check a while back since I didn't have any credit history. Signed up and like the service though.
@FatLynn: creditkarma sucks. At least my experience with it. It said that I had a 650 once, when actually I had a 710. Found out that it is more of an estimator (not a very good one) than anything.
@FatLynn: It does kind of sort of apply, but since it gets your information from transunion, annualcreditreport.com already does it for you.
Though it DOES provide a good explanation of your data. I like it.
And thanks for reminding me. I had not updated my CK since July 15. Apparently, my credit score went up 20 points since then despite multiple inquiries :D
