@RandomHookup: His real job is to distract Captain Duvel Moneycats sufficiently so that he doesn't use his superior feline brain to first take over the Consumerist Brownstone, then the blog, and from there the world, one Starbucks at a time. Until Dognet is activated as a global defense by the last remaining stand of humans, but too late to do any good except for raining down frolicking puppies across the territorial United States. After a brief stalemate, they'll agree to a pact, and thus the rest of the planet will fall to them.
Then kitties and puppies will rule the Earth, except for enough humans kept around to grow, manufacture and prepare Perfect Oatmeal.

Thus, the only thing standing between our civilization and complete (human) ruin is Ben Popken and a feather-toy dangling from a string.

While I appreciate it's difficult to understand the weight such responsibility must be (and who besides Ben can?), have the simple human decency to thank him for saving us all, even if it means perhaps a few less Consumerist articles written by his hand. OK?

(Oh, and Captain, if you're reading this? I make really good oatmeal. Spare me?)

Oh and now I know a small number of sites that Ben reads, for which presumably no tips need be submitted from them.

When I come across a relevant story that might be tipworthy, I have long wondered how to decide whether or not it's a source I should just assume is in the editors' newsfeeds.

I assume the general lack of guidance on what tips to send in is by intent, so as not to pre-filter potentially post-worthy stories.
