McDonald's Combo Meal Includes Gun And Bags Of Pot

A South Carolina teenager got more than he expected from a McDonald's in Charleston, according to WIS 10 news in Columbia. And, no, we're not talking supersize fries. After placing his order and paying, he drove up to the pickup window, where the attendant asked him, "who gets the bags?" The customer said it didn't matter, so the Mcster handed him three bags — two containing food for the driver and his passenger, and one with some extras: a loaded handgun and bags of weed.

Police say he got an extra bag with a loaded .45-caliber or nine-millimeter handgun and what appeared to be bags of marijuana. "It was the gun and the marijuana that was inside of a brown bag sitting inside of a McDonald's bag," said Kathy Rivera, whose son found the gun in his bag. "They noticed they had three bags. There were only two people in the car, so when he opened it he noticed it."

The driver then took the stash home with him and hid it under his, er, sorry. Wrong movie. Turns out the gun and pot were actually intended for the the next car in line at the drive through, and that car followed the first car to a nearby gas station. There, a passenger in the second car told the teen to hand over the bag. He did, avoiding a melee of carnage that would have challenged anything Hollywood could possibly imagine.

In the end, the group in the second car was never caught, the teen and his pal got to keep their Royales, and we assume the kid at the window was reprimanded by the manager for mixing up orders.

Either that or he snapped and decided this was the way he'd deal with his next customer. (NSFW)

@West Coast Secessionist: I think you misunderstand. I would MUCH rather give the bag back then get in a high speed chase. However, it's likely I'd call 911 when I saw the bag, then realize too late that I'm being followed, then be like "OH SHIT!".

@MEoip: 911 would be my immediate reaction. Then, while on the phone, if I noticed I was being followed, it's probably already be too late to hand the goods over, since I'm on the phone with 911. Instead, I head to the freeway or something and just drive and do what the cops tell me to.

The cop might want a drug test, but a DA would have to be the worst Drugwarnazi to try to prosecute or even look for a plea, and a Judge would have to be batshit insane to hear "They came in and turn the stuff over", see no priors, and not dismiss it right there and then.

Now, if they had been pulled over with the gun and weed on them... That would be a different case of reasonable doubt.

@Bogart's Falcon: Just Forget the Other Name: Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if no charges were brought had they turned it in - if the kids were trying to score drugs or deal or get high they wouldn't be bringing their product/stash in, and they came in voluntarily so it's not like some half-assed excuse they just came up with on the spot. I recognize the lack of supporting facts, but I think the officer would be incline to believe them, or at worst not charge them.

@coren: Look at it through a police officer's view. Some teenagers come in and say they were given a bag from a McDonald's that has a gun and a bag of weed in it. They can't offer proof that that's how they are in possession of the items nor will any video surveillance that the store might have be of any help.

A police officer is trained to go on the facts he or she has. The only facts that are apparent to the officer is that these people are in possession of the gun and the weed with their story being unable to prove.

Since they luckily didn't get hurt by the people in the other car I think that was the best thing that happened to them. It would have been very unfortunate if they did try to give it to the police and they would up being charged. Remember, no good deed goes unpunished.

I'd definitely hand over the bag to the gangsters (I would probably be a hero if called on, but in this case resisting would simply be stupidity imo) and probably leave it at that. Seems like a good bargain, Buy a meal and get a free gun and some pot. A value meal with actual value. if they could have drove off fast enough, they could have gotten away with the gun and the pot, then next time they went there, they could sell the pot back as a coupon for a discounted or free meal and kept the gun and used that chance to register for a license to own a gun. (guns are good for home security. when a criminal breaks into a home, if there in for killing who ever is in the house of they see them, then the police will never get there fast enough to save your life.

Have you ever seen a news report when the police get to a home or other location fast enough to save the life or do you just see then report the body count and and ask people to call a number if they can offer any information leading to a arrest. Police are not a substitute for self defense.
