Thank you KFC this is one great invention. It looks and probably tastes delicious and as an added bonus you get to enjoy the scorn from the whole PC crowd who are still trying to ban peanut butter from schools and to force enveryone onto treadmills.

I just called my local KFC and it's comming here Sept 8th to Edmonton,Alberta,Canada So us Canadians won't miss out.

@hungryhomer: Word. I love KFC, but this thing makes my heart feel a tinge of pain. In other words, it doesn't even remotely look appetizing. Their "bowl" of crap that they began selling a while back does the same thing to my stomach. And there aren't too many things that I won't try at least once. I'll stick to the grilled chicken or the original recipe.

You want it, you eat it! (you can't afford health insurance anyway) Still...the kentucky grilled chicken is really good too.

Carbs are fine and should be eaten as part of a healthy diet, even in a weight loss program. What is not fine are things like high fructose corn syrup and the 80 grams of saturated fat that is in a sandwich like this. Also, fried greasy foods tend to be significantly higher in calories right off the get go so while it might not seem like it, you are actually consuming more food, making you fatter, and maybe dumber. So, no it's not better for you if you lose the bun, eat right and work out for a change and stop being a lazy piece of crap.

The problem with the low carb and incidentally the atkins diet, are you ready for it, is that it DOES work. That's right I said it, it does work. It works for "losing weight". That is the deceiving part, unfortunately it does not make you any healthier, in fact it's a form of starvation called ketosis. Long story short ketosis burns of fat but conditions it so store it later because your crash diet is sending it into shock. As soon as you start eating carbs again you will blow up like a blimp because the body has now trained itself to believe that it is starving. That forced you to believe that the atkins diet was working... right? WRONG. It's like nicotine and it will lead you nowhere. Even if you can manage ketosis long enough to become skinny you won't look healthy, you will look starved like someone in a third world country that can't afford to eat things. By, then all of your muscle would have melted away. Congrats, you're a genius.

I still think the makers just don't realize that the Atkins craze is over.

Definitely not tons of fast food. Hell, not even frequent fast food. Maybe once in a 3 week span I'll go fast food.

Other factors... I eat a ton, BUT I, or my fiancee, make what I eat, mostly from raw ingredients. No garbage. So there is some QC in what I eat as well. I just eat alot of it. Simple substitutions like the type of oil, and bread used.

I don't mean to offend anyone. But I do know that not enough people take any vested interrest in their body. I am far from a fitness nut. I developed a small gut. I'm just doing what's needed to get my body back to how it was 10 years ago. I need to, because I want my kids to have an active father that can keep up.

Hour of vigorous exercise = 700-ish calories. That just isn't that much, especially if you "eat like a 300-400lb man." Yes, backpackers or ultra-distance runners can burn through an astounding number of calories in a single day, but mere mortals with a desk job can only burn off so much food, given a limited amount of time.

In addition, you can be serious about exercise, be fit, and still weigh more than you should, and be on the fast track to a coronary.

That's saying something.

I'm going to get this AND a famous bowl and dip the sandwich into it while in my basement apartment with all the lights off, sitting in a folding chair with no table and staring off into the middle distance while I chow down.

@calquist: Unfortunately, my body does not know what to do with the carbs in whole grain. My God, I used to be a vegetarian. I used to live on rice and beans and pasta (mostly brown rice and homemade pasta). I actually cried when my doctor told me to go low-carb.

Sad thing is I don't even LIKE kfc chicken. But I bet I'd love this sandwich.

However, I am sure that you still way ahead of most Americans on the fit scale.

I really do love the whole "this is why america is fat" mentality.

I weigh 160Lbs. and eat like a 300-400Lb.man. Difference is, I exercize to offset my eating habits, and to keep my heart and lungs in better shape. Of all of my overweight friends, NOT ONE is serious about exercize or keeping in shape.

Wake up people. It's not just what is being eaten. It's the inherent laziness of too many people.

Oh, and for the record.. This weekend, I will fry up some chicken filets, add some cheese and bacon, and a home made honey mustard sauce. $5...HAH!!! I'll make a better one for $4. Thanks for the idea KFC.

I thought this was old news when I read it. I assumed this was a wide release type of deal because I've seen it advertised on TV. I do live in the Omaha area, though, so that explains that, but at least I can confirm its existance.

@Jabberkaty: I can assure you it is. I live in Omaha and have seen ads for this, although I haven't heard it called the double down, just the KFC Chicken Sandwich IIRC. Haven't had one yet though. Quite frankly, I'm scared of how my body will react to the potential extreme delciousness that may ensue.

While this "sandwich" doesn't actually sound all that appealing to me, I'd totally eat one right in front of any number of people who've made free to lecture me about "teh eeeeevil fat" over the years. Starting with my old boss, the one who smoked her lunch daily and whined about getting "So fat!" after going from a size 0 to a size 3.

This is going on my list of wonderfully unhealthy foods that I must eat in my lifetime.

We could easily get the riff-raff out of these town hall meetings by dumping a couple of dozen of these things in the parking lot. :)

@computerwiz3491: As a low-carber myself (diabetic and holding normal blood sugar w/o meds) I can tell you that if the fillets are breaded, it is not a low-carb meal. Lower than bread, yes. But Chick-Fil-A and some others have sugar in their breading. And who knows what's in the sauce.
