I told him to call his bank about a chargeback. For that reason, I never sign up for free things if I have to submit my card info.</p><p>BUT, I looked over the site, and it is very confusing. It is possible to find the language stating that you will be billed the moment your free trial ends - I found it quickly because I was looking for it. On that page in very small print at the bottom of the page it states it's a 5 day free trial and then user is charged $34.95 per month renewal fee for the premium membership. There is no way to NOT be a premium member unless you back out in the first 5 days, but with the shady and sleazy tactics used on the site, I wouldn't even risk trying it for 2 or 3 days just because they might get that fee before I cancel. Blogspam is basically the person running the site opens up say 50 new domains of blogs and in various ways promotes that business.  It really pays for itself to buy 50 domains, you also have software like: <a href=\"http://cheapestwebsoftware.com/\" rel=\"nofollow\">[cheapestwebsoftware.com]</a> if you look at it, it is basically an easy way to spam your numerous blogs...... the more links to other websites, the more google acknowledges them as valid links. 50 domains at say $15 each = $750 then you figure a $35 signup, so it takes about 22 people to sign up for them to break even to spam the web... If I ever want to try these things, I find a credit card that expires before the end of the term and that's that.</p><p>Had one company try to do something about it, I set my email software to auto-delete their emails after re-sending them a reminder of the law in my country, and my address if they'd like to take a flight here to waste their time trying to fight them.</p>        </div>	<div It's a DEBIT card, not a credit card.  An authorization on a credit card does the same thing, it removes the AUTHORIZED amount.  What was done was completely legitimate.  From working in hotels before, I know that a lot of people who use debit cards don't understand this and complain loudly when an authorization for a few hundred dollars is \"removed\" from their account.  Come on Consumerist, you should know better. Whenever I do a free trial on my debit card I can see some kind of amount is authorized but not charged.  As soon as the trial is over the amount is charged.  If you cancel before the authorization is released.  It just happens that by how debit cards work they temporarily tie up your available funds which I guess could matter to someone with a tight budget to begin with.</p><p>I can't think of any company that doesn't do trials this way.
