Despite the \"better\" headphones they introduces a few years back they've never been any good (which I don't mind because I don't buy them for the headphones) but to lock people into them for the controls is pretty lame.  The day this was announced I predicted that this would be the first iPod to fail. I think the 2nd Gen Shuffle was the best. I have the older, postage stamp sized shuffle and I accidentally ran it through the washing machine about a year ago. After sucking as much water out of the ports, I surfed for a solution.   There were a few:</p><p>1.  Place iPod or iPhone in a ziplock filled with uncooked rice and seal bag.  Leave for eight hours.  Purchase gel packs and insert into bag.  Wait.  Pray.</p><p>2.  Place iPod/iPhone on sunny windowsill with power off.</p><p>3.  Jam iPhone into air conditioner vent and cry yourself to sleep.</p><p>I went fetal with option three.  I couldn't hear phone calls the next day without using speakerphone option, but everything else worked.  I used the air conditioner Friday and Saturday night. I have both the shuffle (3G,2yo) and the clip (1yo). They are comparable for use; both have survived getting damp running in the rain. I put them on the heater at a low setting when this happens. The sansa is easier to load using just Windows: for the shuffle I have to use winamp. Best of all, the sansa only costs like $10 on woot.com. A small amount of sweat will break it.  I would not recommend this to any exerciser.
