We had Hardee's in the South and they were absolutely awful, the bottom of the fast food barrel. Then I moved to the West Coast and tried Carl's Jr, which is, in fact, quite awesome. There's a HUGE difference in both quality and in the menu offerings. Your menu difference is due to the region you were/are in. It's that way with a lot of chains. Different regions offer items that apply to a local demographic. Even 7-Eleven does this. They offer egg rolls in some markets, and hot dogs in others.</p><p>I kind of agree with esc27. Hardee's used to be one of the better fast food options. Then something changed and they went to shit town. I'm sorry to say that the teaming with Carl's Jr hasn't helped all that much. Hardee's needs to get back to the place many of us knew in the late 70's and early 80's. They were known more for their roast beef, which blew Arby's off the map. They were the original place to get buttermilk breakfast biscuits, and Mcdonald's couldn't touch them. Then Carl's Jr bought them, they improved slightly, the menu changed, but not much else until just a few years ago.  It must have just taken Carl's Jr. a while to fix the problems because in the last few years, every Hardees I've been to has been remodeled, cleaned up, and is now better than the average McDonalds. They have completely devolved into insanity, confusion, base behavior and thinking and mental shock tactics. I probably find that commercial more entertaining than a similar, boring one that doesn't have a potty joke in it, though, so the next time I'm sitting in front of the TV with my arms and legs all broken, I will probably be grateful for the less boring version.</p><p>The point, though, is that this doesn't spell the downfall of western civilization or anything. Either way you remember it. The best fast food commercial I ever saw was later one night a while after the Janet Jackson Superbowl Fiasco. It was when BK was doing the commercials with the people in offices and they were all sitting around handing out the food and were one meal short. Two guys fight over it and end up ripping the one guys shirt open and he has his nipple pierced like Janet Jackson. They look at him and pause and he is just like What? What? I only saw it the once but it was hilarious.
