Have there actually been problems here? My gf joined, lost weight, and canceled several years ago, apparently without incident. I joined 6 months ago and was thinking of leaving soon (so close to my goal!)...now I'm all worried!

@rachmanut: I canceled a few months ago quite easily and without incident. I did it all online, without having to call or email anybody.
Wife, never had an issue cancelling less than a year ago...

Um, it's pretty easy to do right on the website.
Go to weightwatchers.com. Log in.
Click \"My Profile\" at the top right.
Under \"My Account\" click on \"Account Status\".
On the \"Account Status\" page, click on \"Edit Subscription\".
On the \"Edit Subscription\" page click on \"Cancel My Account\".
It's not that hard, and takes about ten seconds.

I had no problem whatsoever canceling my WW account. My sister has an account, and she plans on canceling soon as well (we have both reached our goal weight).
I'd be interested to know what prompted this article. Obviously somebody had a problem canceling - what happened?
I had a problem with this, too. I was going to cancel so I logged into the site and was told I didn't have an active account. I thought, OK, great now I don't have to do anything. That was what I thought until I saw a charge on my credit card. As it turned out, I was signed up after all. I ended up canceling it over the phone because by then I didn't trust the site. It's a great weight loss program but the online program smacks too much of \"scam\" to make me comfortable recommending it to anyone.

Posting this story with no context implies that WW tries to make it difficult for members to quit. Why did you print this bit of advice?

I was a member of WW Online within the past year, reached my goal and canceled online with no issues whatsoever.
um yes you can cancel very easily, I'm NOT canceling however....joined feb 2 of this year, and now 15 weeks later at my 10 percent mini goal of 31 pounds lost!....woot! 140 more to go....
Why call corporate when all you have to do is click on the Help link and go to cancellations! So much easier than trying to track someone down at corporate headquarters!
I've said it before. The entire diet and exercise industry is a conspiracy. It's no different than the concept of the existence of free energy. If it existed, there are an awful lot of people who have a vested interest in keeping it secret. Same thing here. If diet and exercise really made you lose weight permanently and by that I mean by permanently resetting your metabolic rate to that of a naturally, genetically thin person who has never had to go on a diet, those businesses wouldn't last very long. It's the same as being forced to rent music downloads instead of owning them because with the former, it's a guaranteed revenue stream.
Well I guess Annie Rizzo doesn't do this anymore because I called and got a voicemail that says if you are trying to cancel your account email customer service. Oh well.
I was able to cancel just fine, but getting a refund ... apparently not. They took my money from my bank account on June 14 for July, I canceled on June 16, but getting my money back for July is looking less and less likely as the days pass. I'm not a fan of any company that makes you pay for services weeks prior to their start -- my YWCA, for example, pulls the money out of my account on the first day of the current month, not 2 weeks before.
So I followed all their refund steps, sent back their materials, etc. and ... nothing. They sure were quick to TAKE my money, of course.
How sad is it when you have to go all the way to a corporate receptionist to do a simple account cancellation??
Customer service has gone to crap more than I realized.
@dragonfire81: I've never heard of anyone having a issue canceling. Not sure why this is really needed.
