@Matt Roush: You can't site JD Power as a credible source. GM is at fault because they never created a reliable, flagship sedan to cater to the mainstream consumer. Sure, people were going freakin SUV crazy, but at the end of the day, you need a high quality, reliable family sedan to drive your bottom line sales (Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, BMW 3-series). Please don't try to tell me about the new Chevy Malibu, I've seen one and have been in one. It's a shitty GM car packaged in a slightly prettier exterior. It will never reach the heights of the Accord or Camry.

At least Ford gets it (they used to have a great deal of success with the Taurus) and they did a decent job with the Fusion and are coming out with a new version of the Taurus which looks great.

GM, get your head out of your ass, put your foot down with the UAW who is killing your bottom line, and develop a car people want to drive.

The "Check Engine" light is connected to the engine control unit (ECU) which is not programmed to illuminate the light at certain mileage intervals. That's horse puckey. Yes, some GM vehicles have Information Display systems that monitor oil life, but this is not connected to the "Check Engine" lamp.

If the CE lamp illuminates, there is usually an emissions fault (e.g., loose gas cap, broken injector, bad O2 sensor).

Well JPMorgan Chase - IS responsible for the latest Bank catastrophe. "JPMorgan was the first bank to make a big bet on credit default swaps."

"One of the earliest CDS deals came out of JPMorgan in December 1997, when the firm put into place the idea hatched in Boca Raton. It essentially took 300 different loans, totaling $9.7 billion, that had been made to a variety of big companies like Ford, Wal-Mart and IBM, and cut them up into pieces known as "tranches" (that's French for "slices")." ""We made it possible for banks to get their credit risk off their books and into nonfinancial institutions like insurance companies and pension funds,"

So, Gee Thanks JPMorgan Chase - you greedy #%!*&($.

When my ex-wife had a field day with our credit, I got a call from Chase telling me that not only were they reducing my credit limit to the CURRENT BALANCE (a $10K drop) but they were also raising my interest rate from 9.9% to 21.9% !!!!
Chase definitely gets my vote here.

I owned one between the years of 1998-2005. 2005 I bought my avalanche and so far I think it's an awesome trick. I will soon cross 100k miles on it and it's been a rock. Still getting as least 16MPG in the saint louis city area with mobil1 for oil. True it's a $60 oil change at walmart, but none the less I am impressed.

It was difficult, I've finally made up my mind to vote for Chase. GM has been a crummy company for a really long time, but they've now at least canned their obstructionist CEO and are considering all alternatives, including bankruptcy, rather than continuing to suckle indefinitely from taxpayers. Chase is as predatory as ever, and thinks it's entitled to continue business that way with taxpayer support.

But ya know what, Go ahead and let GM go out of business people, and put 2.5 million more people out of work, just because you want the company to die, because that's what we all need is another huge job loss. And that is not even considering the companies that suply GM with their parts and the people who work for them. GM going OOB is a pandora's box, and I really don't want to see it opened.

And of course I voted for Chase. yet another bank who took bailout money and used it pathetically. At least GM is being restructured.

Boy, sure are a lot of people around here blithely ignorant of how the car biz works. People, GM and Ford have been building cars the equal of anything from the Land of the Rising Sun for several years now. But don't take my word for it -- it's the official scientific survey from J.D. Power and Associates. And GM was building what America wanted to buy -- big trucks and SUVs were everywhere in the '90s and early 2000s, right? So they were supposed to predict a sudden spike of gas to $4.25 a gallon last summer and a massive bank panic that would mean nobody could get a loan to buy a car for the better part of a year? Listen, the Japanese and German governments are propping up their automakers too, not that anyone ever reports it.

Oh, and as for that GM hybrid SUV -- in the city that massive Tahoe gets better MPG than a freakin TOYOTA CAMRY.

It's fashionable to hate on Detroit, among the shortsighted anyway. But we aren't building 1974 Plymouth Fury III's any more. And if we go down, America turns into a big Argentina. No industrial base means no prosperity.

As for rental cars, heavens to Murgatroyd. They ALL suck because people drive the CRAP out of them. Last time I went to Enterprise they gave me a Nissan with 45,000 miles on it and bald tires. It was one rattle and squeak after another, and it hydroplaned in the rain. I didn't thusly conclude that Japan Inc. can't build a car though...

I don't understand why anyone is voting for GM. GM is merely an incompetent company that makes products that people don't want to buy and was a squeaky enough wheel to get the grease. Chase, on the other hand, is one of the companies instrumental in creating the financial ruin of not only the United States but of a fair portion of the entire world. And it isn't the first time they've done it! J.P. Morgan was one of the architects of the Federal Reserve, the federal income tax, was directly responsible for the Great Depression, and much more. While his blood and corporate descendants may not have quite lived up to his extreme level of evil, they certainly follow in his footsteps.

I used to be a Wamu customer, now turned Chase. My Debit card expired, so the new one sent out to me was understandably a Chase card. Here's the kicker, There are no Chase banks in Cali so every time I need to do a banking transaction I would go to Wamu. Well in my area there systems hadn't been updated with the new Chase info so my only options to get cash were use the ATM, or if I needed more than my daily allowance (which i often do)I would have to write a Wamu check to get the money. Not a big deal but i must do this until May, and have been doing it since February. I still voted for GM.

Unfortunately for Chase, GM had the opportunity to not only accept bail-out money from the Government and then proceed to still not have a survivability plan, but they are also a single corporation that hold the jobs of millions (through it's own employment and suppliers) in it's hands whilst pissing away money on failed projects and lackluster designs that everybody knew was going to fail.

Seriously, GM? Your going to release a $50,000 "hybrid" Tahoe when the gas mileage improved a whole 4 miles? Who the hell do you think your kidding?

I was given a Grand AM that just turned 25K on the odo and the CHECK ENGINE light lit up as if it was on a schedule.
