All infomercials seem scammy, but the products aren't necessarily terrible. They're never "like magic," but the Shammie has been around for decades.

There used to be some german-made industrial-strength cleaning paste they sold via infomercial. I can't remember the name, but that stuff was absolutely AMAZING on everything. The trick, of course, was that you have to use a good bit more than what they claimed, making the product a bit more expensive. Still beat out most cleaning stuff on price/performance.

Don't the makers of these products just get it? Can't stand the guy and his annoying voice. He'll be the last person I'll buy anything from.

I've also heard "petit-pois" for peas, instead of "guisantes," which is the real term. Go figure.

Either way, though, these videos were painful to watch, the spanish is so awful.

But there's something charming about him speaking "spanglish" versus hiring a dubber.

Also, there's a nagging voice in the back of my head telling me that's all craftily dubbed over the top of the english version to make it look like he's speaking spanish.

Of course, his reading-straight-from-the-cuecard thick accent means that for as mostly grammatically correct he is, the spiel is still full of fracaso.

To make that even partially correct, it would need to be "Unos Hermanas" or Many Sisters.

i don't know when the consumerist commenters became such misogynists, but it's really, really starting to bother me. "oh, if he beat her, he clearly must have been provoked! nobody beats someone over a verbal argument! silly women."

@dorianh49: sadly, things are usually funnier when kids say them...so he would get even BIGGER laughs.

@mechfluff: As much as people complain about that scene, it really isnt all that decieving. The shamwow, as hilarious as the commercials are, are a good product and I have used them, and seen live demos where they do the soda on the rug thing.

No shit. I speak a little bit of spanish and listening to that I thought it was a joke. But if he was trying to make people laugh he did a hell of a job.

@Murph1908: yeah, it was almost funny the other day when everyone else said it. Now, it just seems like a 5 year-old repeating the same joke everyone else has been laughing at to see if he gets the same laughs.
