I don't recall reading that opening day tickets were promised (although if they were, then yeah, people are gonna be a little upset). But I am thinking one of threee things happened:<br /><br />1.  People assumed it was for opening day and they weren't.<br /><br />2.  They were promised opening day tickets but didn't tell fans that only x number of tickets would be available, thereby generating a large number of fans who wanted to get in.<br /><br />3. It was a shock to me the first time I showed up at a movie with a friend with passes to one of these screenings and found out that they give away way more of these passes than they have seats (which I can understand for obscure movies, but not for popular ones).  Not only didn't we get in, but my friend and I had already bought our refreshments, and had stood in line for an hour and a half.
