On another note. Dominos did NOT spend the moneys to do a proper criminal background check. I have never ever heard of any Dominos store doing a criminal beckground check on any new delivery driver hire prior to this issue.

It is in part Dominos fault for hiring them and Dominos Corporate for NOT enforcing a mandatory criminal background check for new delivery driver hires.

This left them with an adult KNOWN sex offender who very could of been around children in the work place ESPECIALLY if she delivered to homes with children in them. The lawsuits may fly on that issue alone if she delivered to a home with children. I believe it is a violation for ANY sex offender to be around children on the job in somebodies home in most all states.

Then again, they DID record themselves doing this stuff, so some leniency has to be shown. Without these videos, how would we know they tampered with the food or used sponges as *shudders* toilet paper before using them on the dishes.

On second thought, screw leniency. Throw the book at them, retrieve the book, and throw it at them again. Then proceed to beat them senseless with the book. This is people's food we're talking about. Granted, one can survive without fast food, but that does not excuse behavior like this.

@Mike8813: Dude, NEVER eat Wendy's chili. I had a friend who used to work there, and unlike the other things that are shipped to the store, the chili is not. And... the meat in the chili, well, that is the scrap that has fallen on the floor, and the meat that's just a bit past it's expiration date, as well as returned meat that may or may not have been chewed on in a former life as a hamburger.

I used to work at a Dominoes in the late 80's. I still order pizza occasionally, but I make sure I only order from one place that's good, and I tip extraordinarily well. I only get like 5-6 pizzas a year (trying to stay healthy and all), but they know me now. And my pizza comes very, very fast, always hot, and I'm 99.9% sure that there have never been any bodily fluids on any of the pies I've ordered. They call me \"sir\" and pet the dog and they get paid well for it.

You people who only tip the pizza guy like a buck (or worse, don't tip at all) have almost certainly eat stuff you really don't want to think about too much. And there's no way to stop it, since everyone knows your address by now.

I haven't watched the video, but I can imagine those guys knew who was getting that pizza.

@wee0x1B: I worked in a pizza place for some months a few years ago, and never saw any questionable behavior that put up a red flag, and I've always stuck with the golden rule too. I'm passive aggressive by nature, so I choose to be rude to customers. In this situation, you should realize there's sometimes a great divide between drivers and in-store workers. Your wonderful tips might delight the drivers, but if the in-store workers are having a bad day (or lacking in basic sense, as these two are), then you have no control.

@snowburnt: No, but in the place where I worked, people would recall the good tippers (especially if they were close to the shop).

The rule was that you didn't look at the tears sheets to see where a pie was going, you grabbed the oldest one on the ready line. The reality was that the addresses of known good tippers (or, in one case, a very hot lady who always wore a bathrobe) got their pizzas fought over and out first.

Lousy tippers or pain in the asses were usually delivered by the newer guys who hadn't learned to sift through the pile and cherry pick the good deliveries. You learn quick, though, and the manager turns a blind eye.

@Guvmint_Cheese: When I was in college, there was a bar/grill thing across the street from my house. Oddly enough, it was the quietest place within 5 miles of the campus at 3pm on an average weekday. (They mostly catered to a nightlife crowd, and I always wondered why they even bothered to stay open during the day since nobody was ever in there past lunch hours.)

I used to go there and hunker down on the bar with my books and a club soda. I got to know the bartenders, and if I was done with classes for the day, I'd get a beer and a burger or whatever. I always tipped as well as I could.

After a little while, I was tasting new dishes the cook was trying out, checking to make sure a new keg of beer wasn't \"stale\", trying the bartender's new drink special idea, etc. You know the drill I'm sure.

Pretty soon I was doing more socializing than studying, and would often help them set up stuff, carry heavy things out to the back/basement (there was a bartender/busboy combo -- Allison and Luis -- who maybe weighed 200 pounds between them), that sort of thing. I was like an unofficial employee. All because I tipped well when I first got there.

I was saying, \"I appreciate your effort to hop on over with a soda or beer, and it's a slow day, so I don't mind paying double\". They liked having me around, obviously, and knew when to leave me be. During midterms, they'd let me crash out in a back booth and they'd bring over a whole pitcher of soda water, and I'd get a good 3 hour stretch in.

When I'd go there at night, when it was wall-to-wall packed, I'd get treated like a friggin' king.

Not every place is like that, but if it's a place you frequent, it's well worth tipping the hell out of a waitress, waiter, bartender, etc.

@Michael Wynn: Tips are a monetary representation of how I feel about the service and food. Subpar food and/or service, subpar tip. Good food and/or service, good tip. Its just that simple.

I've given lousy tips for cold food and lousy service and I never return to that restaurant. I've even added chains of restaurants to my personal blacklist for this. Applebee's earned a spot on my blacklist for not only completely ignoring my complaint e-mail sent to them via the corporate website but failing to return my calls placed to the restaurant in question AND adding me to their coupon mailing list! At no point did I acknowledge I wanted their coupons sent to my inbox, plus why would I want coupons for your damn restaurant when I was unhappy with my previous visit?

All I did was send an e-mail detailing the piss-poor service, terrible food, and the waitress' rude demeanor. All I asked was that they acknowledge they received my complaint and assure me the staff would receive a stern talking-to.

For those wondering, I went in on a Tuesday evening, ordered a rib and chicken strip basket with a Samuel Adams. My only request was that my beer be served with my dinner. This prompted the rude attitude by my server and resulted in me waiting nearly 90 minutes for my cold dinner and warm beer to be served. Not only that, but my fries were soaked in grease!

After choking down what I could I paid the bill and left without placing a tip on the table. I would have asked to speak to a manager right then and there, but considering it took me 90 minutes to get my food I could only imagine how long waiting for a manager would have taken.

Is it really too much to ask that I receive my beverage with my food? I hate getting my drink after I order because I either drink it before the food arrives or its warm when the food arrives. In the case above, it really didn't make a difference. These places do give you complimentary water, so the chances of me dying of thirst before my order is served are slim.

I'm not an asshole when it comes to tipping. Just give me hot food in a reasonable time frame while treating me like a human being and you'll get a tip. If there are circumstances that prevent me from getting my food in a reasonable time frame, let me know before I place my order if you can. If not, let me know as soon as you can and give me the option of canceling my order if I so choose.

Last time I checked that was basic customer service. Then again, if we customers received basic service sites like this wouldn't exist.

@Keavy_Rain: A tip shouldn't show how you feel about the food, just the service. Most restaurants have their serving staff tip out the bar and hosts, not the kitchen...Your comments later on are the server's responsibility, I just wanted to clarify that most of your tip is for the server who usually has no way of making sure your food is \"good\". If they do the bare minimum: 15%. If they do worse than the bare minimum, less than 15%. If they take care of you, ask if you want your drinks refilled as you get low, are friendly, polite, check up on you regularly, +20%. If there's a problem with your food, complain to the server politely, no snark...if they handle it properly and to your satisfaction, don't take away from their tip. If they give you attitude, take away from their tip.

That said, I rarely tip less than 20%...if for some reason a piece of our meal gets comp'ed or the server does me a favor, I tip based on the price it would have been had it been on my bill.

It never crossed my mind to tamper with someone's food in retaliation. In fact, I'm not sure how that would have worked logistically...I'd have to hold one hell of a grudge to remember who screwed me the last time they ordered, and wait several days/weeks for them to order again.

In an 8-hour shift, however many times I was screwed on tips, I'd make it back with good tippers. And I never let the bad tips get to me.

@wee0x1B: I put myself through highschool working for a pizza chain. The drivers made minimum wage PLUS the tips. That's more than a restaurant server makes. There are lots of chains that charge a \"delivery fee\" and so those drivers sometimes get stiffed out of a tip because not everyone knows that that money doesn't go to the driver, it goes for insurance costs.

None of that means that anyone has the right to spit in my food. We had plenty of rude customers who treated us like crap -- but myself, my managers, and my co-workers all agreed that messing with someone's food is not only disgusting, but totally bad ju-ju.

@Microshock: I couldn't agree more. I personally never messed with anyone's food, as I live strongly by a \"golden rule\" sort of standards.

The reason I pay extra is because I know what happens in a pizza place, especially to those who habitually fail to tip, are always a pain in the ass, etc. And I don't want it to happen to my food.

That may sound terrible, but it's foolish to refuse to accept the reality of situation.

If you have been stiffing your delivery guy, then you have almost certainly ingested bodily fluids, stuff from the floor, pocket lint, old ingredients, etc. I'm sorry, but that's the way it is.

@Microshock: Comprehension. OP never said that you SHOULD get your food screwed with. He said, if you aren't tipping, theres a good possibility that your food will/is/has been screwed with. Again, he isn't CONDONING it, he is simply letting you know - If you move, you might want to consider it in the future.

I will say that as a driver for Pizza Hut, I NEVER once screwed with people's food. However, I ALMOST did once or twice. There were a few customers that were habitual non-tippers, even going so far as to \"tip\" $.10 and find it funny. In addition, they had a tendency to call and complain about meaningless things to get free food, which of course was another delivery with no tip. Of course they had a BMW in the driveway. I never messed with their food, but had I done so, I would have felt 0 remorse.

Personally, my hourly rate was $4.75. If you think thats sufficient, then you, sir, *deleted*. I worked myself though college, and it was tough. There were times I wasn't sure if I was doing better than breaking even delivering pizzas between high gas prices, car repairs, oil, tires, etc. A little butt-jam on an asshole's third delivery of the night would have brightened my day a little.

P.S. Food gets dropped on the floor, and food on the floor gets picked up and sent to people. Its a fact of life, live with it. The ironic thing is that it's actually the customer's fault. If we don't pick up the food off the floor and deliver it, you call and bitch about it being late and we have to give you a credit, plus we get to lose the money on the dropped food. If we send it, you never know the difference and are happy and don't complain. So, y'know, look at yourselves sometimes as being the reason these kinds of things happen, not just the \"stupid worthless people there who can't make a normal living like me.\"

Clearly you have no pity for people that find themselves in the unenviable position of making minimum wage - thats your prerogative. You also feel a driver should be penalized for something outside his control - also your prerogative. I worked in a Kitchen for 13+ years, started off in Fast Food and worked my way up. I can tell you this is something very common and one of the least disturbing things I have seen.

One reason why I barely eat out anymore. I would rather cook my own meal at home where I know I wont die or pick up some disease or some tasty food poisoning!

Hopefully these two are fired and fines or sent to prison.

@ddesigns: I've worked in plenty of fast food and restaurants, its really an establishment to establishment thing, each place has its own culture. Though stupid customers are common everywhere. At pizza hut I once had a lady call and claim a driver ate a piece of her pizza, when I asked her how many slices there were, she said 8, I then proceeded to spend 15 mins explaining to her that it was impossible for us to cut a pizza into an odd number of slices and that the pizza most likely shifted in the box during transit, she didn't believe me and wanted a new pizza because she didn't know who might have touched hers. I told her 'I promise I'm the only one who touched it' to which she said she wanted a new one that no one had touched. To which point I asked her how I was supposed to make her a new pizza without touching it? At that point she swore at me so I hung up, my favorite company policy (were allowed to hang up on vulgar people)

I worked at multiple fast food places while in high school and periods in college. My experience is the opposite of yours. My managers, coworkers, and when I was a manager, took food integrity very seriously. If we dropped something it got thrown out. Every time you left the food preparation zone and came back, you washed your hands.

I never once saw a person or heard from anybody else of someone tampering with the food. The food industry is a terrible place to work and most people are trustworthy and of good character. Don't let the bad apples allow you to assume the next fast food worker that is serving you is scum.

@Adhominem: As with any kind of chain, there's good examples and bad examples. I worked at a retail store that was known for incompetent employees, yet we were the exception. We were always on top of our info and always helped the customer the best we could, even if it meant we didn't make extra money for the extra mile we went.

Unfortunately, we were that 1/10 store while the other 9/10 would screw customers and be completely oblivious to the products/services they were selling.

@mandy_Reeves: Please don't make comments like this on Consumerist. We're a pretty open site as far as welcoming everyone to the same table, and statements like this are so far over in stereotype land -- \"oh noes teh gays are filthy\" -- that it's not appropriate.

I'm gay, mandy_Reeves, and I don't like reading through the comments on a post and suddenly seeing one of our readers make a public, blanket statement that because I'm gay, I'm dirty and a health hazard.

This is not the website to launch comment threads on homosexuality. On Consumerist, if not in your own house, glbt-whatevers are welcome.

What I do have a problem with is gays getting upset because of a frivolous comment and then the gay community cries and says \"I'M GAY, DON'T SAY THAT.\" Be proud that you're gay and keep it to yourself if you don't want to mark yourself. @skilledone: Make politically incorrect jokes all you want. We need more of them, as far as I'm concerned.

\"Gays are a health hazard\"--when stated with absolute certainty, as mandy_Reeves did--is classic bigotry. It disguises stereotypes and ignorance as fact, and it's used to categorize a subset of the population as inferior and/or dangerous. You (or anyone) can probably come up with 2 or 3 equally horrific bigoted statements about some other minority group if you let the racist/prejudiced part of your mind roam free for a few minutes.

I pretty much never mention my sexuality because it obviously has no place. But there have been some strong anti-gay remarks, and from surprising (to me) sources, on the blog since Sunday, and it's growing increasingly annoying. Imagine if I were black and there were casual \"that's just my opinion\" racist remarks--truly racist, not simply un-pc humor--being tossed in the comments like little bags of shit.

Okay, so that somewhat explains my personal, individual reaction to this sort of thing and why I felt I needed to disclose my sexuality to mandy_Reeves and any other readers following this. Now set aside my personal involvement for a second and just look at what was written. Mandy_Reeves wrote, on one of my posts--which had no gay content at all in it, by the way--that gays are packed with diseases. Although I can almost understand where she may have developed that idea, what with the first 15-20 years of AIDS and all, it's a very crude and inaccurate assumption.

If the world were different and I didn't know that that sort of mindset is part of the reason why homosexuals are killed/imprisoned/shunned/legislated against around the world, I would have just rolled my eyes at her ignorance. Since we don't, and that sort of mindset causes real damage to innocent people, I don't want it on the Consumerist.

He was merely pointing out that it's inaccurate to consider people to be dirty and hazardous because they're gay. And I have to agree, since I am dirty, hazardous, and straight.

Problem with the gay community they never want to be shown in a bad light though they lobby to try and make passing on AIDs knowingly not a crime.


The gay Community thinks its hateful to put anyone in jail even though if they knowingly gave someone a disease.


Not to mention if they move into an area they except everyone to comform to them and accept their lifestyle and behavior but a trend in young parents moving to certain areas that are heavily gay populated the gay community argues that nudity, public sex in front of children is to be expected since they moved into that area.

@skilledone: I'd be pissed if someone made a broadly offensive remark like that about a group to which I belong, and I'd say it, too. Additionally, I think his mentioning how it applied to him helped drive the point home about why it's offensive. Lucky for me, female grad students aren't really a target for much in the way of prejudice. :-D

As a side note, I've never been impressed with the phrase \"I have no problem with gay people\" and similar. I've just heard it from too many people from whom it was not a sincere sentiment, but maybe that's just me.

I worked for Dominoes back in the mid-80s, and this stuff was happening back then, too. At least the idiots didn't have access to a digital camera and YouTube back then.

About the only thing I did was splash a little jalapeno juice on a pie for a customer that was way, way over the top on the phone. He cursed out the 16yo girl taking the orders and drove her to tears.

I order my pizzas from Round Table now and we don't do delivery. Only carry out where we can watch them make and bake.

@Primate: Because we were too immature to deal with it properly. My store manager wasn't even 21 when I started. He set the tone.

But this stuff didn't happen all the time. It was very rare. And it never happened to random customers. Looking back, that's not a good enough excuse for what happened (which, again, was very rare), but it took an exceptionally rude customer to get something a little extra on their pie.

Well, you never know what happens between the preparation of the food and you putting it in your mouth at fast food joints or restaurants. So when you pay for a meal you are turning the wheel and can only hope it lands on \"safe\" and not \"tainted\". Sad thing is you will probably never know one way or the other.

On a personal note I hate Dominoes because the high honcho in the chain is a douche bag.

also, i have a good friend that is a chef. i asked him about this and he said that the general rule in his kitchen (and many others) is that if you wont feed it to your mother, it wont leave the kitchen.


i can only hope the kitchen staff workers have good relationships with their parents :o)

@Hyman Decent: He still has about a 25% interest in it. We were never allowed to get Domino's pizza growing up because my mom didn't agree with Tom Monahan's politics. When he sold it, we still weren't allowed to get Domino's because Tom Monahan would still profit from it and, consequently, some organizations my mother didn't agree with would profit as well.

@ajlei: Heh, I lived in Southern Oregon (Grants Pass & Medford) as a teen and just about every place I worked I saw nasty stuff like this happen. Elks Lodge, Fun Time Pizza, Wendys, McDonalds, and a few other places. I'm glad I never participated, but it was common.

At most fast food joints here you can see whats going on behind the counter but who knows what got into the ingredients before they put them out. The only exception seems to be Subway where they pull everything out of sealed plastic bags, but even then someone at the warehouse making this food could have sabotaged it in some way or sneezed in the bag in the back before bringing it out.

But its probably the least riskiest at Subway, since they are making it right in front of you and pulling most ingredients out of sealed plastic bags. If they wanted to sneeze in the lettuce and someone walked in while they were doing it (provided this wasn't a mall location where people are constantly about) they would likely get in big trouble for it. They don't make everything in the back room like other restaurants.

I don't go out to eat a lot and basically your risking it wherever you eat, doesn't matter what chain it is and if I worried about stuff like this constantly I would probably end up in the mad house.

Theres a Jack in the box across from this dominos. Searched yellowpages.com for it, found it at 509 10th St NW, Conover NC. Jack in the Box is at 510 10th st NW. @Stephmo: Oh, she sounds lovely. I actually don't find the \"prank\" theory too incredible, as they had that giggly staginess going on, but I just don't know that it matters. They were doing this on work time in a workplace, in an area full of food service, and publicizing it in association with the company name. Whether you meant to deliver the food or not may not really make a difference.

Classy. There's an argument that fast food is some of the safest you can eat b/c (adulterations by slack jawed yokels aside) the chain suffers so badly when there's an outbreak of e-coli, etc. Obviously this isn't necessarily a reflection of Domino's corporate, but they should suffer ginormous losses in sales so that they take this seriously.

I may be slightly more horrified by their stupidity than their treatment of the food. I mean, what in the name of [your deity here] did they think would happen to video of such actions? Yes, she obviously is giddy with her crush on the guy, but even if he were straight, getting him fired isn't likely to make him sleep with her. I get a wee vibe of the eleven-year-old who thinks that if they weren't snarling and mean, they couldn't have been doing anything bad. I mean--three videos of massively fireable offenses, with enough identifiable information to get tracked down within an hour? How can people that dumb find their way to work every day? Like others said, this happens all the time. About every joint I worked at as a teenager I saw this. Boogers, spit, armpit & buttcrack wiping, all that good stuff. It was just a matter of time before some idiot uploaded it on youtube.

The fact is, the people working at a fast food joint are not the happiest people in the world. You either have the teen who is pissed at the world for having to work Saturday night or the 40 yr old guy who hates life because he's stuck in a dead-end job.

@WeAre138: You must have had some really terrible bosses when you worked at these places. I think I'm a pretty good boss and that is a big part of the reason that they don't do this kind of crap. That and they have respect for others.

The 40 year old who works for me is quite happy in his job. The teenager I have working for me on Saturday night is quite happy as he gets his paycheck every two weeks that shows what happens when he works on a Saturday night. And he'd rather be working for me than babysitting his younger siblings.

So, please, get your \"facts\" straight, not all of us in the food industry are sneezing on food, putting food up our noses or wiping our butts with sponges and then washing the dishes. And not all of us are miserable where we work. I guarantee that my staff are probably happier in their work than some of our customers.

This whole subject of food being tampered with just makes me sad. I mean, having worked in retail for many years during high school and some during college, I can understand severely disliking rude customers... but geez...

I've never worked in the food industry (thankfully) but from the comments, it seems that this sort of food \"tainting\" happens to everyone -- nice or rude. Like lots of other people have said in the comments, you \"know\" that this is going on but you try not to think about it.

It also makes me think that I love Studio Movie Grill (in Lewisville, TX) and who knows what I've eaten, considering you can't actually see the food since you're watching a movie... :/

If a franchisee hires screw-up employees, the brand takes a hit. That is the way it is. If you want to run a national brand, it is YOUR JOB to deal with (or better yet, prevent) stuff like this.

@MrsLopsided: Yeah, there seems to be a complete lack of supervision but the manager may have had work to do in the back. The amount of paperwork chain managers have to get done is insane. I couldn't have someone else supervise because I had to keep labor costs low. If I supervised ten hours a day I had to take home three hours of paperwork each night. When you are working six days a week that is a lot of work. If there is a screw up (order don't come in. Yay!) then you have to be in the back dealing with it. Thankfully, I had trustworthy employees that cared about the store and the quality of the food they were putting out. Anyone attempting to do something like this would have been stopped or ratted out by their fellow employees. Expressing your anger over stupid customers is fine, trying to entertain yourself on a dead slow night is fine, compromising the health of customers is NOT FINE.

Actually what everybody needs to do with the state and local representatives is request that there should be CRIMINAL LAWS against this type of food sabatoge/poisoning/vandalism . The problem is that these problems only show up as simple code violations but if there were CRIMINAL penalties vs a citation there might be much less .

Ok I work at a Domino's delivering pizzas CURRENTLY. This crap has never happened at my store/s even with customers that have quite literally turned me into Hulk Smash out of stupidity and rudeness. (I can tolerate 1 at a time, not simultaneously.) For those of you that say \"This just makes me not eating Domino's right\" You're a freaking moron. Straight up, you're an idiot. THIS HAPPENS ALL OVER THE PLACE! Seriously, don't breed; please?

As for this happening and regarding the disease transmission... Anything done prior to cook is very unlikely to survive a 5-6 minute cook at 470 degrees, so really get beyond that... I am not justifying this action at all, just saying this is absurdly over the top you drama queens.

Our average delivery time is 15-18 minutes at my store. I get to the door with pizzas so hot they burn my hand. I have a variable amount of tips night in/out. I have friends in other companies that will not even fight with the fact we provide the fastest delivery in town. That being said, I can COUNT the # of deliveries that do 15% tips on one hand. Anymore I'm pretty settled with a $1 tip and I'm content w/ this entirely. There are a few customers who tip quite generously and I can promise you they get their food VERY quickly EVERY time. There are also customers, that I have their addresses memorized that can straight up go to hell. When you order $50 of food and give me $0.22 as a \"tip\" to turn around and in the last 1-2 hours of business order another $25 worth of food and make me count out the $0.27 in change back to you claiming you cannot afford to spare any change... Come on this is insulting. It was also icy roads, night, very cold, and she didn't have any light on for me to see for getting to her door safely OR count the money. First you order $75 worth of food and tip $0.22, then you lie the 2nd time being too drugged up to realize it is the SAME driver... Coincidence, this person lives in the \"ghetto\" of my town and for lack of better term, a burnout. I hate her, her food gets there late every time, I pound of her door late at night to piss her off, and I don't care. I order pizza 4-5 times a week from various places and the service generally is mediocre, I feel I provide a MUCH better experience at the door to get like no tipped, but it does balance out so I keep going.

As for the guy who said he didn't ever feel it was worth while to remember who tipped poorly or whatever, I can't imagine you did very well in tips ever. I remember my good customers and put a lot of extra effort into their deliveries and even the unknowns or the people who tip a pretty standard $1 amount. The people who do not tip I have no desire to push to get them their food quickly. These people also tend to be the most rude people I've ever dealt with and I've worked retail and food service...

Ok, I'm done. G'night and please stop hating the Domino's chain for this, it's not just our company!

A while back Hardee's here in Roanoke had a roach problem or a rat problem or something. I can't remember the details.

What I do remember is this... after it made the news, Hardee's became the most sanitary place in town.

Domino's is next. After this story breaks, they'll do a little housecleaning and Domino's will be the best place to get your pizza if you want it booger-free.

I've worked umpteen fast food jobs in my youth. What each one had in common was a bunch of dumbed down 'training' regarding food safety, security, cash handling, etc.

But I not once ever recalled being told \"Don't put boogers in peoples' food.\" Obviously it would seem that people shouldn't have to be told this. And with some people it probably wouldn't matter if you told them anyway.

But, these two seemed borderline really. Yeah it was gross. But in a way, it almost seemed like the dude thought he was flirting with the line, not crossing it. He thought he was being silly and cute. I would bet, that if he had been trained with regards to the seriousness of food tampering, if he was aware of how much trouble it could get him, how humiliated he would be, I bet he wouldn't have done those things.

So, perhaps the fast food companies need to institute some sort of 'Food Tampering, don't do it moron' video/handout/etc. Like I said, it won't stop everyone, but it might stop borderliners like this guy.

It is probably true that Domino's will become a super safe place to eat in the wake of this incident, but while I can understand that rationally, it is going to be a long time before I can eat anything from Domino's without thinking of this incident, which means that it is going to be a long time before I eat anything from Dominos, period.

Sorry Chris Chitwood (and other non-gross Domino's employees), it is nothing personal, I'm sure most of you do fine work and always have, but that video left a mental stain that isn't going to disappear for a while.

People work for their money. The price of pizzas is outrageous. Treating ones self to a pizza that is advertized at a certain price should not come with some mob inspired tip of protection for the food. If you take a job making minimum wage plus tips then the tips should simply be considered a plus, not a guarantee. The minimum wage is what you are paid to ensure that you do the base job of preparing the food and delivering it in a manner that meet all basic health codes. This obscure belief that people are entitled to a tip is insane. I do tip well when the service is good, and I am the guy that calls the manager over or on the phone to commend great service. A tip is not in any way owed to you. You earn it, you get it.These two have now harmed, in a severe way, the name and reputation of a company someone has built just for the sh*ts and grins. Prosecute these bums

I must say as of today, I will never ever eat dominos again, I usually almost order from them every month I just don't know if I could ever trust their company again! Sadly I always give out gift cards to friends & family but it just seems to me like they are a bunch of lazy employees and don't do their jobs. Thank you for bringing these videos out for us to see so we know the real truth.

I have written a letter to Domino's letting them know that if they do not very publicly, and thoroughly prosecute these people that I will never purchase from them again. I suggest everyone do the same. These idiots need to be made an example of for tampering with, and poisoning food (yes, scrubbing your ass with the sponge you wash dishes with is potentially poisoning). The message needs to get out there that this is absolutely NOT tolerable, or you'll see copy-cat videos coming out before long.

My response to getting the media involved is that Dominos could have contacted the people who ordered the tainted food via their computerized POS system and worked that way.


Dominos would also do in-house training, presumably.


Remember the Wendy's \"finger in the chili\" story? That really hurt Wendy's as a national brand even though it happened in one store and it was fake anyway.


Today's media is irresponsible and reckless. Regardless of your PERSONAL feelings of Domino's, the national brand does not need a PR black eye because of an isolated incident.

I agree you shouldn't dam the whole Dominos chain . This is an industry problem and part of the culture of the kids that work there .


I say use this an example of what not to do in the food service industry period . The restaurant industry seems to be one of the only service industries that directly messing with the customer's product is \" OK \" because they didn't get a tip or the customer didn't treat them right . Crappy customers are part of customer service anywhere .


The entire restaurant industry needs to be more regulated to the point where food tampering becomes a felony/major criminal offense . And since alot of food service is done by kids they must be taught the LEGAL and MEDICAL consequences of stunts like this .


I don't think these clowns get it . They know there are rules but I don't think they get why . To them it's just more nit picking by their facist boss .


Sometimes I think these pranks keep the manufacturers of Imodium and Peptobismol in business .

I worked in food service for six years and never saw anyone tamper with food. If customers are jerks you can deal with it in ways that won't compromise their health. That said, I would never be surprised to find out there was snot or spit in my fast food. I'd like to remain happily oblivious to it. I'm not going to freak out unless someone sprays my burger with oven cleaner.

This can happen in the BEST of restaurants. Other than the Chef, the kitchen help is usually low paid employees. Do you think they know, or care, about sanitary food handling. NOT. These are two people that do not know how to value a good job working at a great and well known food company. They should have been happy to even have a job in the first place considering how there are so many unemployed people out there. After this stupid and immature stunt, they will definitely not be respected and will have a hard time even finding another job especially in the restaurant/food chain. Using some detective work, I was able to find that Conover, NC is in Catawba county. Then I found the Catawba County Board of Health's website and was able to determine that food safety is supervised by one Doug Urland. I was able to look up his email address and I sent him a message about this issue, including a link to the video. Hopefully that joint will have a thorough inspection soon. By the way, the Catawba County board of health website has a listing of restaurant inspections. Said Domino's had one major violation and two minor violations in their inspection in October of 2008. Yum.

The local health department has responded to this issue. The restaurant voluntarily closed while equipment could be cleaned and sanitized and all known food that the individuals could have contaminated was disposed. I also understand that ocal authorities may pursue criminal charges against these individuals. Thank you.

I work for Domino's Pizza as a Delivery Driver (+ I make the food, etc) and I hate getting stiffed. For all the people out there saying they tip on performance that's a load of CRAP. Most nights when I'm getting crappy tips is when I arrive at someone's door BEFORE 30 minutes (sometimes 10-15 minutes) an that's when it hurts the most (we're slow) - When nitghts we're short staffed and crushed and I'm running 3-4 orders a drive with 1.5 hour lates I'm getting BIG TIPS $6 to $10.00 - Do the math!

Anyway, I've no problem with being stiffed now and again if I'm having a good night. My biggest gripe is a lot of people think $2.00 is a good tip when it's well BELOW 10-15%!!! Yes, $2.00 is nice on small orders but I've done many 30-40 dollar orders ON TIME with a pleasant gereeting and gettingh $2.00 - that's asinine. Now would I ever do that to somebody's food? Hell no, that's out of line!

What I do to the obvious non-tippers (ones who never tip anytime never) is when I'm running a couple of orders I do them LAST because me hurrying to their place isn't going to get me money anyway.
