They send UPS or USPS information to expect the package for shipment and most people just assume that means the package is in transit.  Then they just hope that appeases the consumer long enough to not file a report in time to get paypal protection or any kind of refund. I think that the problem here is that the Tentacle Grape soda was broadcast all over the internet and preorder sales went way above what they originally expected and what their soda producer could handle in that time.</p><p>I know when we are hit hard with many unexpected orders at the business I work our shipping dates can be pushed from two weeks after order date to six weeks after order date. They charged me 15 bucks for shipping and another 15 for the product. I came back late january to see what was up with the product. I see the that shipping was pretty much slashed in half. I sent an email through Pay pal asking for a refund of half the shipping cost or toss a bottle or two extra to make up for it I never got a reply. So on Feb 14th I got an email much like the one posted saying shipping info was sent to the post office, one month later here we are with no product and the 30 bucks still out of my bank account. This will be the first and last time I do business with these guys. The Black Hole In The Brown Truck (BH/BT) has swallowed a number of packages.</p><p>I know that at our company, we do not check the status on every single package. We have a HUGE number of back orders to process and last week we went so far as to stop accepting new orders while we finish the backlog. There are still approx. 500 in the cue and I've personally started packing some of those myself using USPS priority mail to help our fulfillment team get on top of it. <p>Lol, Illusion Television is one of my old companies, it's a cable network on over 50 affiliates. I haven't been involved with it in well over 9 months, but if you have carriers like Fios you can see the new owners have been up to. </p><p>We're plowing through it. It's obviously a real product, people have sampled it at conventions and thousands of people have received their soda. Dekker here... I'm a little confused as to why consumerist didn't approve my comments yet, but that you guys for posting them here. I wanted to add that Tentacle Grape was a pre-order custom bottled item. <a href=\"http://kotaku.com/5120568/ah-the-delicious-taste-of-tentacle-rape\" rel=\"nofollow\">[kotaku.com]</a> - it clearly said so on all of our materials. We didn't even get a single bottle of soda until around the 20th of January. At that point we needed to plow through these orders, which were more than we had ever anticipated. We had another slight hold-up for weather in the North East and waiting for more soda to be bottled, so it's been a difficult learning curve. I'm not sure why it's so difficult to find the Mnemosyne contact information. Ordered on Jan 5th.  Received April 1st.  The \"four six packs\" that I purchased were six poorly individually wrapped bottles inside of a USPS priority mail box, rattling around inside.  That's right, they shorted me 18 bottles, which don't even come in a \"six pack\" carrying case as the order form implies.  <p>One bottle had leaked and half of the soda spilled all over the others and made a mess inside and out. Multiple requests have been getting junked by spam filters and its not the way to go.  There's a ticketing system to deal with order issues on tentaclegrape.com and we handle issues quickly when they're submitted the right way.  All orders are stamped FRAGILE and resent via priority mail insured.  If you need a refund, we issue refunds but paypal takes its sweet ol' time reviewing requests from transactions over 30days old. If  we could speed it up we would but its not in our hands. Moral of the story: Use google checkout over paypal.</p><p>Follow-up: The fellow Steve Pak who posted above got his 12-pack resent.  The first order was damaged in the mail.  Such is typical in about 10% of our orders.</p><p>Rumor control: TG is not affiliated with Dandalimited or IllusionTV.  The brand's creator, Dekker Dreyer, used to run a cable TV channel in a prior life before coming to Mnemosyne.</p><p>Truth: Mnemosyne is a small company and we've been getting slammed with orders since January. Shipping bottles by putting them loose in a box with a thin sheet of foam wrapped around only 2/3rds of the bottle doesn't work - especially for the premium \"shipping and handling\" cost.</p><p>All followup customer service calls and support tickets were ignored. I supplied all the exact requested information as listed on their site and supplied photos of the broken bottles. There was no response. I submitted 3 tickets and none of them ever got a response.</p><p>Phone calls to Mnemosyne and emails to multiple addresses didn't work either (to and from multiple listed addresses for business use)- all ignored. Even a written letter didn't get a response.</p><p>It's nice to see they'll respond to bad PR via blog post comments but not to customer support tickets or phone calls.</p><p>They took my money, I didn't get what I paid for, they wouldn't respond to requests for a refund - I hope people stop ordering from them. They were the worst experience I've ever had purchasing online.</p><p>I don't even want my money back anymore. As long as just one person changes their mind about ordering from them because of my experience I'll be happy.</p><p>Truth: Mnemomsyne is not good.
