For me, it wasn't their bad prices, or their bad customer service that got me, it was the fact that it took 20 minutes to ring up an order. I'm not sure if this was the case everywhere, but the CC by me always had empty check out register, and you had to go to the customer service line for every transaction. So, while I'm waiting to buy a $20 DVD, I'm in line with returns, complaints, etc.

That said, I did get guitar hero 3 for like $30.

Well, an employee from a local store here in Virginia wrote to the Richmond Times Dispatch. He was upset that so many customers were angry at the employees for the sale prices that were not low enough. He also was sad that so many people wished them ill will towards finding new jobs.

Now I do sympathize with some of the lower groups but come ON! You could go into a CC and the DVDs were trashed along with any other product in the store when they were open full time. The liquidation actually helped organize the store! Besides from what the company pulled last year most of the good workers were terminated for being productive.

What I would personally LOVE to see is the executives and management from this company get blackballed in the entire industry so that they could NEVER work in management again EVER! They will be in college/business textbooks from this year forward as the actions not to do if you want to run a successful company.

How stupid could a company be? Stop selling appliances? Lay off your good workers? Play games with customers? Yup they did it all and more. Good riddance and may Best buy follow soon or take the example and improve.

This means a whole lot of people got suckered by the liquidation "sale" if all of the inventory was sold out weeks sooner than expected. It also means our economy isn't bad if people had the money to buy $1.7 billion in jacked up inventory.

There are a few victims in this - namely those few employees (at corporate and in the stores) that actually enjoyed their jobs and tried to provide good customer service. Granted, I never met any of them, but I know that there must be some.

The guilty, however, have gone free without any charges against them. These are the Circuit City corporate executives, senior management, and board members that sanctioned years and years of boneheaded decisions, resulting in stupefyingly idiotic policies.

Make no mistake - Circuit City deserves its fate. But that leaves the US with essentially one national consumer electronics chain (Best Buy) and monopolies are rarely good for the consumer. Radio Shack, Walmart, Target, and numerous regional chains may try to rise to occupy the voice left by Circuit City, but no one knows for sure what will happen in this economy.

Circuit City is gone and consumers are better off for it. All you big-box retailers - heed the lessons of CC's passing and do not repeat their mistakes.
