Recession or not, this was on the road to happening. The recession probably only helped it get here faster.

This was coming for years. The Inquirer abandoned the city proper to cover the burbs, and was in competition with suburban papers that already did that better.

I'm not saddened by this.

We really are looking at the death of quality print journalism. (And I don't know if these two papers qualified for that accolade, either.)

No one wants to pay for what they can get for free... but that means they won't be able to get it for free, either.
