Notice it's thin crust only. The thin crusts at Papa Johns are not made in the store, they just come in a big bag full of crusts. To make a small or medium thin crust, they cut off the excess. To make a heart shaped pizza, they do the same.
They're not saving any money, they're just throwing food away. I guess they save a little bit of money on the toppings though.

]]>Worse, the template we use to get just the right heart shape didn't ship to all of the stores until yesterday for a special that's been going on for two weeks and my bet is that the photo is from an attempt to freehand a heart. My best shot so far freehanding is a fairly respectable pac-man, so this is surprisingly good work.

They refused to do so, even when she played the "it's my special day as a bride" card, claiming that it simply wasn't possible for them to create such a thing. ]]>What's amazing is how perfectly round the rest of the pizza is besides that 'dent'. They can clearly make a regular pizza, but they clearly didn't try very hard to fulfill the 'heart' aspect of this Love Pizza.

My comment is more along the lines of trying to understand if this is widespread or isolated. Is this the exception or the rule? One instance does not a pattern make, but instead an abberation.
I'm not defending Papa Johns (although I find their pizza delicious, these days I've been buying Little Caeser's $5 carry out large pizzas since they're right next to where I work) I'm just trying to understand the bigger picture.

]]>The results were far better that those pictured here. For one thing, they cut it after it was cooked, giving me the remainder in another box; which worked for us since my wife doesn't like crust.
This however, reminds me of an old metal tractor seat (which are actually fairly comfortable).

Even more basic than that is the manager of the store knowing he doesn't have a skilled enough crew to handle making the pizza and still offering it, and sending out pizzas that look like that.
