Since the cheap American macros have come in cans for so long, the can is seen as a sign of \"cheapness\" to those who enjoy a finer brew, despite it actually being a superior means of packaging beer.  Some of the larger microbreweries(if you could still call them that) have started to put out their beer in cans.
