@yagisencho: Funny - all cans are coated with vinyl on the inside to prevent the aluminum from reacting with the beer. So as long as you pour it into a glass (as you should with any beer), the only flavor difference is...in your head.

Not for me. I'm one of those weird people who doesn't like the taste of anything in an aluminum can. Beer, coke, juice. I just think it all tastes funny.

@yagisencho: Some American craft breweries release their beer in cans rather than bottles, and I've never noticed a negative effect on the taste. Try a can of something from Surly sometime and tell me it's not totally awesome.

@Oranges w/ Cheese: It's the stigma of "the can". Since the cheap American macros have come in cans for so long, the can is seen as a sign of "cheapness" to those who enjoy a finer brew, despite it actually being a superior means of packaging beer. Some of the larger microbreweries(if you could still call them that) have started to put out their beer in cans. New Belgium packages Fat Tire in cans now.

And anyone who complains about a metallic taste is obviously drinking straight from the can, and therefore "doing it wrong", anyway.

It's been wonderful for lowered shipping costs (due to weight reductions). But it's been awful for flavor. I'll stick with kegs and bottles.

Boddingtons in a can is a crime against beer.

@syzygy: I vastly prefer drinking Yuengling from a can (poured into a glass) as opposed to from a bottle. Like you said, it's always consistent, and tastier! Plus, it's probably the best case of beer you can buy for under $17, in my opinion.

Damn right, hooray! Aluminum cans are the perfect beer container. Completely opaque to avoid skunking, lighter than glass, more efficient to recycle than glass, and more rugged than glass. Not to mention, some of the tastiest brews in the country come in cans. Oskar Blues Dale's Pale Ale, anyone?
