It's a great state with lots to offer. Yes we have high taxes (Gov. While drawing my unemployment, I took a CNA class and passed it, during which I applied at the SVSMHI, which is a state job.  On Dec 17 they called to offer me a job with great benefits and I was scheduled to start work on Jan 12.  On Dec 18 they called me back to rescind the offer of employment because the Governor of my state had put a freeze on hiring and was cutting their budget as well as one whole wing.  There have been no other local jobs in my new field and I am in a rural area so commuting long distance is out. I work for a County-owned EMS provider, and we're actually adding jobs.  I also have 1 part time job in EMS and just got another part time gig at a hospital in the ER. Is it cheaper to spend so much of our tax money towards unemployment? Or even for customer service. I love my foreign friends, but we're so focused on our foreign affairs that we forgot to look and help out those in our own back yard. Or what about taxing the people who actually have the money to spare? What's wrong with higher taxes to those who choose to use foreign countries for manufacturing and employment? and the genius that pushed for the finish of 355 extension that pushed the budget so far that a lot of other construction projects were pushed back to the point that a lot of smaller construction companies were forced to shut down and leave many more unemployed. Yes... I am lucky I work at a county jail that is expanding in the midst of this recession and that there will always be crimes committed.
