CNN says:
November, in which 584,000 jobs were lost, and December marked the first time in the 70-year history of the report in which the economy lost more than 500,000 jobs in consecutive months.
"We have a bigger economy now, but even on a proportional basis, the last months have been the worst since [1945]," said Kurt Karl, head of economic research at Swiss Re. "It's just an enormous acceleration of job losses."
By comparison, the 2.6 million jobs lost in 2008 nationwide were equal to the number of jobs found in states such as Wisconsin, Missouri or Maryland.
So basically, we fired Wisconsin. No foam cheese hats. No beer. No sausage shaped like beer. No Green Bay Packers! (Oh well. Go Bears.)

]]>So many businesses were using overseas factories to manufacture so many items because it's "cheaper". Is it cheaper to spend so much of our tax money towards unemployment? Or even for customer service. I love my foreign friends, but we're so focused on our foreign affairs that we forgot to look and help out those in our own back yard. Or what about taxing the people who actually have the money to spare? What's wrong with higher taxes to those who choose to use foreign countries for manufacturing and employment? and the genius that pushed for the finish of 355 extension that pushed the budget so far that a lot of other construction projects were pushed back to the point that a lot of smaller construction companies were forced to shut down and leave many more unemployed. Yes... I am lucky I work at a county jail that is expanding in the midst of this recession and that there will always be crimes committed. In the midst of this "depression", even if the homeless shelters fill up, there will be rooms available at the Will County Inn.

I swear everyone I know, including me, lost their job last year, the only exceptions were my mom and stepdad, they work at good companies, but eventually those won't be safe either. I finally found a job after going back to school and getting another degree, the best thing is to go into the medical field, not as a doctor or nurse, but anything that deals with the medical field, that's what I did and hopefully it works out. Besides, why fire the whole state of Wisconsin, they supply me with the best stuff, like cheese, yogurt, and especially ice cream, thank you Wisconsin!

]]>growing up in wisconsin, i can say that i love the state, but i'm also not a packer fan so i guess it would be nicer without all the green and gold next time i drive north over the border. and a lack of jobs would make for some awesome real estate prices as everyone heads for illinois, minnesota, or canada.
