I have worked for Firedog for some years I really hope we can miss this bullet. If anyone as used Firedog service before I am sure they had a good experience. We love our jobs and I think people who are exited that CC is going out of business needs to wake up and smell the economy. Why would you be happy to see thousands and thousand of people out of work?????

Regardless of who failed us and who didn't, and who's left, this company is going down. That being said, the workers left will have to move quick to find other gainful employment.

@Eryk: how many of those folks that failed you are still there? Seems like CC's exec team has been completely replaced in past 18 mos. Get over it already.

@CSUSam: Yeah, it's never the guy in the store's fault for bad service ... no, it's always the evil corporate people. Perhaps if you stopped playing grab-ass with your co-workers and helped some of us out every now and then (you know, when we want to pay for something, you could ring us up) you would not be in this spot ...

@lastingsmilledge: that's just silly. BB has been in a hiring freeze because their sales are down, like almost every other retailer in the country.

Also, in some areas, people only know what store was built there first (In Vineland and Millville, NJ, where our big stores are at the border between the two towns, that would be Best Buy).

Best Buy SUCKS though, so they are probably not much longer for this world, either!

Circut city liqudating can't end up well for the concumer... without circut city Best Buy would almost be a monoply in the market place, with control over the MSRP of electronics and appliances that are sold to them from the manufacturers!

I was there for the 2003 Circuit City Commission RIF, and I got to see several friends of mine lose their jobs. It was painful to watch. However, at the time, CC wasn't hurting nearly as bad - in fact they were doing AOK.

The thing is, alot of us come on here and bash the company, because we want to see the company, and the ones in charge, fail. Mainly because they failed us - the consumer. We don't want to see you, or any ground floor worker lose your job - its not our goal. But you certainly aren't doing yourself any favors by hanging on to the last thread. You've stated you'll "keep it as long as you can," where will that leave you in one month? It'll leave you one month behind in a job search - and that's exactly where you'll be if you don't take action.

Get your resume updated, start sending it out like wildfire to any company you can get a job with, and get the hell out of dodge.

While I certainly have sympathy for those who literally have no other choices, I don't have much sympathy for those who don't take any action when your company has clearly been underperforming for quite some time, and showing signs of bankruptcy/liquidation for months now. You need to move the hell out - don't be the one to have to shut off the lights.

i'm really hating all the negativity that i'm seeing. i happen to be a ccity employee and i absolutely love my job and am looking forward to keeping it for as long as possible. it's people like the one's i've seen post comments on the topic that bring down our economy and more importantly, the spirit of our nation.

have you no sympathy? what about all the employees like myself that work at ccity full time? that have this and nothing else? that have medical benefits and insurance policies that all will crash and burn because of this?

So the lesson is not to name one's electronics super-store in the fashion of a fictional location. (I know CompUSA is still in business, but that location shuttered its doors a while back).

Or, heaven forbid, find one of the last remaining local retailers of furniture/electronics in their town.

Though it's departure means another unsightly vacancy hole in a power center, CC won't be missed, at all.

This is of course provided they decide to liquidate their assets.

I have gotten some good deals in the past from them on video games and whatnot so I am kinda sad to see them go.
