Chase Eats All WaMu Credit Cards In March, What Happens?

-->When Chase completely takes over the old WaMu credit card division in March, a new super-power will be granted to WaMu credit card customers who also have a Chase credit card, reports CreditMattersBlog. As long as you have a zero balance on one of the cards, the two cards will be combined and your Chase's credit limit will now be the sum of the two credit limits. WaMu cardholders without a Chase card will get to convert their cards into Chase cards.

Chase took over my wamu credit card and when I went to purchase some jeans my card was denied. Boy was I embarrassed. I called them and they said I was cancelled and to wait for a letter. One week later I got the letter stating I was cancelled for too small a credit limit. This is bs. I always paid more than the minimum and they should not have cancelled me. I agree with Harrison is total bs.

The story reads that Chase will eat up WAMU Cards and that cardholders won't be orphaned. Nothing is further from the truth. Chase has cancelled the accounts of former WAMU customers without notice. Letters were sent after the fact and before customers could do anything about it . They ate up the cards alright...chewed up the credit ratings of the cardholders and spit them out on the ash heap of bad credit. The cancellation will be posted on thier credit reports at the end of the month as being closed by issuer; thereby, inflicting a black eye on everyone's credit score. Good luck to those that have been victimized...I being one of them.

The interest rate on my WaMu credit card was something like 16%. The new Chase card is going to be something like 32% interest. Has anyone else noticed this? How can they do that? I am going to tell Chase I'm taking my direct deposit check to another bank if they don't honor the same interest rate I had with WaMu. It might work, but probably not.

I have a long history with Chase I have to say I really hate them. I am in the process of selling my house and when I close, I am severing all ties with these thieves. I have been slammed with fees on my checking, ODLOC, mortgage and credit cards. You would figure someone who had such deep relationships with a Bank would get a benefit. Noooooo!

I hope that top execs loss their bonuses (god knows they raped the public enough over the past few years) and even lose their jobs for creating such a train wreck of the financial industry. I would love nothing more than to see Jamie Dimon holding a tin cup begging for money.

They seem to have become more lax about it since it being bought out, but right before they folded, they were holding all of my deposits for 5-7 business days. It was the worst because I never knew when money was going to be released and kept bouncing things, just like they wanted. arrrrgh. If you're a regular depositer and don't bounce, I wouldn't really worry about it.

My letter to Chase:

I'm a WAMU Credit Card holder and I wish to express my dissatisfaction with the discontinuation of WAMU's free FICO score access.

Although I have had nothing but praise for my experience with Chase to date I have no choice but to consider closing my Chase credit card accounts as well as my WAMU Checking and Savings accounts which I have had for over five years.

I strongly hope Chase reconsiders the elimination of FICO credit card access as I believe this feature differentiated the WAMU credit card product from every other card currently available.

If WAMU was able to justify a business case for free FICO score access in order to differentiate their credit card product surely Chase can also.

A couple of months ago, I got a notice that the cash back program will be discontinued sometime in early 2009; all earned rebates will be paid out and no more accruals. I plan to stop using the card after the rebates stop. Or maybe use it a couple times a year just to drag them along, but keep it open. The thing is, the Providian card is by far my oldest credit card and losing that will seriously ding my credit score.
