As our nation's peanut tragedy continues, some of you must being getting tired of preparing your own peanut treats from scratch. For you people, the American Peanut Council has compiled a list of brands that DO NOT contain salmonella. You are so very welcome.

I ate a whole bag of Reese's Peanut Butter Cup mini's last week. They were so delicious I didn't seem to care. At work people continued to eat their Peanut butter M&M's and joked they may die in a week.

Seems some people just can't give up on peanut butter. *chuckle*

Hmmm...one thing I didn't see on there was Wal-Mart Brand peanut butter. Didn't even see a parent company for them. Can anyone shed some light on if the walmart brand is safe or not?

@Crim Law Geek: It's not like they compiled it themselves. They're providing a link to American Peanut Council's list of salmonella free products which have been confirmed by each company. Far bigger fish I'd say.

Also, I didn't see it on the "safe list," but I went to the web site of my favorite natural (nonsweetened) peanut butter, Teddie, and they have a statement saying theirs is safe as well. (whew again)

This is probably my paranoid law student-self talking, but you guys are risking a lot by making a statement saying "This doesn't have slamonella". I'd hate to see Consumerist get shut down because someone bought a product you said was safe and turned out to be tainted. Just saying.

@EdaRufus: Well if they know which companies don't buy from this particular distributor, that could help make the list. I found a press release from Lance crackers that because they make their own peanut butter rather than buy it from a distributor, and because they were re-inspected by the state of NC when this news story broke, they were found to be clean.

It appears to work fine in Safari. Seems like it is just Google Chrome that it is broken in.

Also test it in Opera, no issues there.

Wait wait wait, the company that provided us with salmonella-laced products, who probably could never know how far their infectious product has spread suddenly now knows which products -aren't- salmonella tainted?

The site layout over there is broken in Chrome, so probably also broken for every Mac user that hasn't installed Firefox.

I'm still not going to take any chances. Plus, my jar of store-brand peanut butter + some generic Ritz crackers is WAY cheaper than any kind of store-bought PB treat.
