Take an ashtray-they got plenty.

Why buy a file cabinet?

Why buy a personal computer or word processor?
Take 'em from work.
I took a whole desk from the last place I worked.
They never noticed and it looks great in my apartment.
Take an electric pencil sharpener.
Take a case of white-out; you might need it one day.
Take some from work
It's your duty as an oppressed worker to steal from your exploiters.
It's gonna be an outstanding day.

Why are they closing stores instead of requesting a federal bailout? I guess they deserve to go out of business!

Just get your paper from Dunder Mifflin. Problem solved.
Office Depot will close 10%, or 122, of its stores and cut 2,200 jobs as a result.
As a result of what?
It was in their earnings report this morning (a rather dismal one).
Looks like they've yanked the closing stores from their store locator. The closest one to me (at an hour and change away in Ithaca, NY) is off the locator, while the Rochester one remains.

@PresidentBeeblebrox: OfficeMax has pretty much disappeared around my area. Staples was the big winner here.

Wonder if this has anything to do with business decisions like the one that led to Office Depot opening a store 1000 feet away from an Office Max in my hometown.
Just like Taco Bell was the only surviving restaurant from the Franchise Wars, Office Max will be the only surviving office-supply franchise.

@PresidentBeeblebrox: Depends on where you live. In the Seattle area, there are very few Office Max stores, Office Depot is much easier to find.
As the owner of an office/furniture supply store seeing 20% growth this year, I say haha!

My husband called me from work yesterday. He works for O.D. He didn't want me to freak out if/when I heard the news. The store he's at (here in SW Oregon) is safe for the time being. I can only speak for his store but its been a great place for him and others that work there. The management (well with 1 exception) is pretty good.
I stopped shopping at office depot when they decided that all their coupons and specials did not apply to \"technology\" items, and oddly everything I buy there seems to be defined as a \"tech item\".
My last straw was going in there with a buy 2 get one free on cases of printer paper,
-->with a picture of the cases of paper in question on the coupon<--,
I was told I could not use the coupon because \"Well that paper is for a printer so it's a tech item\".
After a futile attempt at logic, including the fact of the item being pictured on the coupon, I ended up telling the manager that it was the last he would ever see of me or my company's money and split.
I went across the street to Office Max & bought 3 cases of paper for less than it would have cost me with the coupon.
Lesson learned.
I feel bad for the general employees that are loosing their jobs but at least that office depot deserves to close.
Serves them right.
They used predatory pricing to drive all the independants out when they moved into town and then jacked up their prices. (ever wonder why the flyer you get has a nearby zip code on it? As the competition goes down their prices go up)

Well, crap. That sucks.
I guess Ross Perot was sorta right about letting all industries in the US fold up and set up in other countries. We produce nothing and have been swapping houses with each other for years... making no real wealth.
