Plus you need to make more of a Play off the Five Star Credit (You'll have better luck if you have some kind of Debt or High Investments with US Bank or you have been with us for a while and you don't Overdraw your account) if you go somewhere where there are not any US Bank ATMs (and I mean like not in the same town/city) like New York and you used an ATM there because you had too bring it up to your branch and they will most likely give you a Five Star Credit. Now 24 Hour Phone Banking can issue credits but they are much more harsh about it then your branch will be and will most likely deny you on the spot.

I hope the TD Banknorth bit doesn't mean existing account holders have to have a minimum. They've been quite good to me, occasional service charge notwithstanding (although they aren't as bad as Hudson United Bank, which got assimilated into TD Banknorth), even dutifully refunding about $30 in fees racked up at the Las Vegas extortionary rates. Every now and then, I'll pay for something with my debit card (emblazoned with "NO ATM FEES" across the top half of the card) and the cashier can't believe they refund fees.

I'd still go with a credit union when I open a savings account, unless they can offer better interest rates, which I doubt...

Glad to see First Republic up there. I've been really happy since I switched to them. When you go to their offices (it doesn't feel like a 'branch') you get to sit down at a desk with someone and take care of your business. So much better than waiting in a queue to talk at someone through bullet-proof glass.

And twice when I was going to bounce a check they called me and asked if I'd have it covered in the next day or so. When I said "yes" they covered the check for me and didn't charge me any fees for it. Take that whatever bank you use!
