I once had an experince with my health insurer refusing to pay a claim. After 2 months of dinking around, I sent one simple letter to the Insurance Commissioner's Office, CC'd to the insurance company. 24 hours after the letter was received, the insurance company called to say they were paying the claim right away. Anyway, you should have tried. The commisioner's job is still to keep the consumer from getting screwed by the insurance companies. the only time it may not help is if you are complaining about a delay during a widespread disaster earthquake/hurricane where almost everybody around you would have a claim, you can't expect super fast claims handling in those cases.</p></p>        </div>	<div class=\"reply\">	 <div class=\"reply-button\"><a title=\"Reply\" href=\"javascript:void(0);\" onclick=\"mtReplyCommentOnClick(2445125, 'vanilla-fro')\">Reply</a></div>		<!-- if it's a top level category ' -->		    </div><!-- end reply- button -->    </div></div>        <!-- Display comment (top level parent) -->    </div>","<div class=\"comments-content\">        <div class=\"comment last\" id=\"comment-7992802\">    <div class=\"inner\">	 <div class=\"user-pic\">        <a href=\"http://consumerist.com/cgi-bin/mt/mt-cp.cgi?__mode=view&amp;amp;blog_id=1&amp;amp;id=559881\"><img        src=\"/css/images/default.gif\"        width=\"60\" height=\"60\" alt=\"user-pic\" /></a>    </div>        <div class=\"comment-header\">            <div class=\"asset-meta\"> <div class=\"vcard author\"><a href=\"http://consumerist.com/cgi-bin/mt/mt-cp.cgi?__mode=view&amp;blog_id=1&amp;id=559881\">LesterFantaztical</a>        </div>				<div class=\"comment-date\"><a href=\"http://consumerist.com/2007/09/find-your-state-insurance-commissioner.html#comment-7992802\"><abbr class=\"published\" title=\"2008-09-26T18:51:39-05:00\">September 26, 2008  6:51 PM</abbr></a></div>				<div class=\"comment-moderate\"><span><a href=\"javascript:moderateComment(7992802);\">Moderate</a> |</span><a href='javascript:void(0)' onClick=\"return moderate(this, 'http://consumerist.com/cgi-bin/mt/plugins/Moderate/moderate.cgi?__mode=flag&comment_id=7992802');\">Flag for review</a></div>            </div>        </div><!-- end comment header -->        <div class=\"comment-content\">            <p>I work for a state department of insurance.
