Why would anyone want to reward WalMart by purchasing anti-semetic merchandise? Instead of trying to get a Nazi t-shirt at a cheap price, maybe the better way to deal with the situation would be to bring the t-shirt to the store manager and let him/her take it off the shelves. What kind of statement does it make to buy it?

It was actually the other T that was on clearance. At any rate I did get the T at clearance cost. I was quite proud of that. I almost had to convince the cashier to let me have it at that cost but she finally got fed up with the nazi T not scanning and rang up the other one in its place.

A Consumerist reader delighted to be able to buy Nazi-inspired clothing! This seems to have backfired slightly.
maybe we shoudl just have a counter , a nazi watch if you will. And just have that increment instead of a story everytime someone finds a shirt

How about just letting us know when something DOES happen? It's not that I'm not interested in the story (regardless of whether or not they should actually sell the shirt, the point is they said they would recall it and have not done so), it's just that there probably isn't much need for updating when nothing has changed.

I would second your motion only because you have phrased it much more succinctly than I could have. I would like to underling your statement that \"the point is they said they would recall it and have not done so.\" I believe that some readers may have misjudged the point thinking that consumers have the power to censor the market. Which is a completely different beast.
I follow the story only because walmart said they would do something and never followed through. I agree with the counter suggestion.

My fiance and I agree with you. The fact that it has been almost two months since Walmart said that they would remove the shirts, and that they are still on the shelf, is ridiculous.
I never said I was going to WEAR the shirt and YES I was delighted in being able to buy the darn thing after the store supposedly does not allow the sale of the item. I'm not sure whether or not I am going to put it on Ebay or not. As an art student I may turn it into an interesting piece of artwork similar to an Atlanta Braves jersey I did years ago. We shall see!

Like I said, I think Wal-Mart's strategy for \"pulling the shirts\" is to wait for them to compost on the shelves. Then to sell them in the garden section.
I saw a guy wearing one of these t-shirts last night. Rather proudly, I thought.

Had to stop by the Wal-Mart(Naperville, IL) on Sunday, so I checked. Sure enough, they have the T-shirts for sale, but when I tried to purchase it at the self-checkout it wouldn't accept it. The self-checkout machine said to \"wait for assistance\" or something like that. I got tired of waiting for someone to come...so after about 5 minutes, I just left without it.
What I don't understand is why it's so hard form them to remove the display and the shirts, if they've already programmed the registers to not accept the sale...

Am I the only one that doesn't understand the Big Deal with this T-shirt thing? Last I checked, the only thing that one can't wear on a T-shirt in the US is illegal porn images and writing in Arabic if you're in line to board a plane and you look swarthy. Nazi paraphernalia isn't actually illegal, you know. If you don't like it, don't buy it. You should be more offended at Wal Mart's labor policies than this silly, cheap-assed Chinese-made T-shirt, of you ask me.

I want one just because I'm a WWII buff and I enjoy the history of that time. While Nazi's only seem to be remembered for the Holocaust (I do understand why that is though.) there was also a massive war happening and the 3rd SS was a military unit involved in it. I think it would be cool to have a shirt with that emblem on it.
Anyway, that's my 2-cents.

The Big Deal isn't that it is a Nazi shirt (most people don't recognize the image), it's Walmart's inability to remove an item from store shelves.
We should not be surprised if after the next product recall there is a story about someone purchasing it the recalled item a week later from Walmart and being injured by it.
Have you ever noticed how Wal-Mart posts all those recall notices BEHIND the customer service desk where no one with less than eagle vision can read them? My main gripe about Wal-Mart recently has been that they \"require\" you to have your items bagged before leaving the store even if you have your receipt. I hate those plastic bags and even take a few of my own cloth ones in with me but those cashiers give you a hard time when you try to use them. This is really off topic though. Wal-Mart should have ended with Sam.

Rahnee was STILL ABLE TO BUY THE SHIRT. As long as the clerks can't tell that it is a recalled item instead of just an error with their system they will ignore the 'Sale not Allowed'.

It was Wal-mart that made the claim that it would be removed in a few days. 2 months is way more than a few days.
Well actually it is not an easy process and if I were to search amongst a bunch of t-shirts diligintly I'm sure I could find one as well. Go down the road to another retailer and I'm sure they are selling the same shirt without caring...at least Wal-Mart gave an effort. I don't think it is a life threatening recall...nope don't think so. I'm pretty sure there a lot more REAL LIFE concerns then a frickin t-shirt; but hey congratulations anyway.

Nice one! I checked my local Walmart as well as a few in neighboring a province and either they removed them from the shelves in Canada, or we never got them to begin with. If anyone can get me one at a decent price I'd love to have it as a reminder of Walmart's ineptitude.
