The doctor is surely correct. When the Bush Administration specifically authorizes the NSA to engage in monitoring U.S. citizens in defiance of the congress, and the NSA asks AT&T for a few rooms and access to its trunk lines, why should AT&T bother with petty suggestions from the California legislature?

I did work for the \"Telephone Company\" back when it was MA BELL. Back then, it was a \"square-shooter\" and highly efficient. And I recall when the Government \"for-the-good-of-the-people\" broke it up so it would be more responsive. Sad...very sad

This is one of those times where I am downright amazed with how much our government and major corporations let each other fuck over everyone else with little outcry from the general public. I guess since AT&T hooked up the government with an illegal wiretap center in thier offices, the government obliges by letting AT&T ignore some laws also.
